Within minutes of iPhone X going on sale this morning, initial stock of preorder units sold out. Not everyone who secured a handset for launch day delivery plans to keep their fancy new fetish phone, however.

Lucky early birds are already listing their iPhone X preorders on eBay, with some asking for crazy money — as much as $12,000!

UPDATE: Shipping times have now slipped to 5-6 weeks for all iPhone X models on the Apple online store.

Apple finally made iPhone X available to pre-order this morning, and within 30 minutes, shipping times slipped. If you didn’t get your order in early, you will now be waiting 4-5 weeks for Apple to deliver.

Apple’s online store has returned, which means iPhone X is finally available to pre-order.

Prices start at $999 for a 64GB model, though you can get it cheaper by taking advantage of early carrier discounts. The device is also more affordable on the iPhone Upgrade Program, which lets you spread out the hefty upfront fee.

If you’re hoping to secure an iPhone X for launch day delivery on November 3, you’re going to need to act fast. Rumor has it that Apple has just 2-3 million units available, and they’re going to sell out in seconds.

Preorders for Apple’s futuristic iPhone X open in less than a week, but getting your hands on one won’t be easy.

Supply of the iPhone X is expected to be shockingly low during launch, so your only real chance of getting one on November 3 is to be one of the first customers to preorder on October 27. With the unprecedented demand expected for iPhone X, getting your order in even a few minutes late could mean you don’t get your device until December.

The notch on the iPhone X is one of the most divisive design decisions Apple’s made in years. Not everyone is a fan of the small black patch at the top of the iPhone X display, but it seems inevitable that Apple will bring Face ID to other products.

Apple denies report about reduced Face ID accuracy

Apple batted down a report this morning that claimed the company made compromises with the iPhone X’s new Face ID hardware after the phone was revealed at last month’s keynote.

Bloomberg reported that “Apple didn’t add extra time to get it right,” referring to the dot projector on the Face ID component saying it’s accuracy is weaker now. This allegedly was done because it was holding back iPhone X manufacturing, but an Apple spokesperson says security hasn’t been weakened.

The Face ID sensor on the new iPhone X may be accurate, but according to a new report it could have been even more so if Apple hadn’t been experiencing production problems with the handset.

With the prospect of losing holiday sales, Apple reportedly “quietly told suppliers” that they could reduce the accuracy of the face-recognition technology used in the new handset in order to make it easier to manufacture.
