iPhone accessories: Cult of Mac Superguide
Check out our recommended iPhone accessories. We have a selection of the best cases, chargers, MagSafe accessories and more.

iPhone charger

A high-quality iPhone charger can top your phone up faster. The most important stat to look at is its wattage — the basic 5W charger from years ago will take forever to top up your phone. The standard plug on chargers is now USB-C, a compact and reversible port.

Apple charger

Apple 35W Dual USB-C Port Compact Power Adapter
$59.00 $39.00
Pros:
  • Compact design
  • Two ports for charging two devices
  • 35W fast charging
12/19/2025 05:18 am GMT

The official Apple iPhone charger is no longer included in the box when you buy an iPhone. Apple now produces a higher-quality 20W charger that comes with a USB-C connector.

Apple also makes a charger with two USB-C ports in one with a higher power 35W output. Its compact shape is easy to stow in a travel bag. Charge two iPhones, an iPhone and Apple Watch or any USB-C device overnight.

iPhone charging cord

Apple USB-C Woven Charge Cable (2 m)
$39.00

This woven cable uses premium, durable materials. The six foot length is perfect for using your phone while charging, no matter where.

12/19/2025 04:10 am GMT

Apple sells a 1 meter (3 foot) and 2 meter (6 foot) charging cable for both the USB-C and Lightning cords. The 3 foot cable is enough to reach a nightstand from a nearby outlet, but if you want a cable with longer reach, you’ll probably want to use the 6 foot version — especially if you plan on holding and using the phone while it’s plugged in, or if your outlet is far away from where you use it.

iPhone cases

Apple’s official case
Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max Silicone Case
$49.00 $39.99
Pros:
  • MagSafe
  • Works with Camera Control
  • Lightweight, thin design
12/18/2025 11:13 am GMT

Apple official cases are made with high-quality materials. They’re also available on day one, as soon as the models are released. The silicone cases have a soft-touch feel, with high-quality metal buttons that are differentiated from the body and easy to press in your pocket.

On the iPhone 16 line, the cases have a capacitive cover over the Camera Control button that makes it just as easy to use.

Otterbox phone cases

Otterbox has a full line of iPhone cases that span a wide range of styles. Their latest cases are fully compatible with the iPhone 16 line and its Camera Control button in the bottom right.

OtterBox iPhone 16 Pro Max Symmetry Series Case - Bluetiful
$24.99

This solid case provides plenty of durability without adding a bunch of bulk. The cutout in the side gives you easy access to the Camera Control.

Pros:
  • Lots of color options
  • Models for iPhone 16, 16 Plus, 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max
12/19/2025 04:10 am GMT
OtterBox iPhone 16 Pro Max Defender Series Case
$63.99

This Otterbox case provides a high degree of protection. It still works with Apple features like MagSafe and the Camera Control.

Pros:
  • Black and blue colors
  • Models for iPhone 16, 16 Plus, 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max
  • Three layers of protection
12/19/2025 04:13 am GMT

Zagg screen protector

ZAGG XTR4 Screen Protector for iPhone
$59.99 $51.29
Pros:
  • Versions for all recent iPhones
  • Strong tempered glass
  • Anti-reflective
  • Easy installation
12/19/2025 04:10 am GMT

Zagg is a popular brand of glass screen protectors. These are a great first line of defense to prevent your phone from shattering — iPhone screen repairs can be very expensive. Zagg makes glass screen protectors for nearly every model of iPhone.

Waterproof pouch for phone

Hiearcool Waterproof Phone Pouch
$9.99 $7.99

Keep your phone safe in the water without a complicated bulky case. This waterproof pouch is easy to put on and take off.

Pros:
  • Fits large phones
  • IPX8 water and dust rating
  • Two-pack
12/19/2025 04:10 am GMT

A waterproof pouch for your phone can be a valuable tool for the beach, rafting, going to the pool or any other water activity. It’s ideal if you want great protection but don’t want to encase your phone in a bulky case.

MagSafe

MagSafe is the name for accessories, cases, stands, chargers, wallets and more that attach to your iPhone magnetically. The feature was introduced on the iPhone 12 and is compatible with all subsequent models.

MagSafe chargers

Apple MagSafe Charger (2m)
$39.99

This cable has a MagSafe connector for easy charging. The 6 foot length is ideal using your phone while you charge. It supports fast charging at 25W and 30W for topping up quick.

Pros:
  • Fast charging
  • Compatible with iPhone and AirPods
  • 6 feet long
Cons:
  • Does not work with iPhone 16e
  • Check for compatibility with AirPods
12/19/2025 02:13 am GMT

A MagSafe charger can charge at speeds up to 25W on the latest iPhone 16. Most officially certified MagSafe devices charge at 15W, while other third-party “MagSafe-compatible” devices only charge at 7.5W.

Belkin 2-in-1 MagSafe Wireless Charging Dock
$119.95

Charge your iPhone and Apple Watch together on this attractive and minimal MagSafe dock.

Pros:
  • Charges iPhone and Apple Watch
  • 15W charging
  • Comes with power adapter
12/19/2025 02:13 am GMT

MagSafe chargers typically either snap onto the back of your phone with wired cables or attach your phone to solid charging stands.

Anker MagGo Power Bank
$89.99 $59.49

Charge your phone using this convenient MagSafe battery pack from Anker. It has a built-in display to show charging status. The folding stand will prop up your phone like a display.

Pros:
  • 15W Qi2 fast charging
  • 10,000 mAh battery
  • Built-in stand
12/19/2025 02:13 am GMT

You can also find MagSafe battery packs, if you want to top up your battery without dealing with a messy cable in your pocket. MagSafe car chargers let you quickly prop up your phone with navigation, while charging it up as well.

Check out our full guide on MagSafe chargers here.

MagSafe cases

A thicker case will prevent your iPhone from connecting to MagSafe, as the magnets will not be able to make a strong connection. But a MagSafe case will include the same pattern of magnets built in, so that you can keep using the same accessories.

MagSafe wallets

If you want to carry around a small handful of cards, you can carry them in a magnetically attaching MagSafe wallet.

Check out our full guide on MagSafe wallets here.

Tiny, fingerprint-secured SSD keeps your data locked tight but instantly accessible [Review] ★★★★

Adam Elements iKlips S review★★★★
Easily secure your privacy with the iKlips S.
Photo: Ed Hardy/Cult of Mac

No one but you can access the files stored on the iKlips S, a tiny SSD from Adam Elements. Simply tap your finger on the drive to unlock it. The biometric security system is similar to Apple’s Touch ID and keeps everything on the SSD private. No passwords are necessary.

File transfers are quick, and the drive uses USB-C, so it works with a broad array of computers, including Mac, iPad and iPhone.

I put the iKlips S through testing for this review and came away quite satisfied with its performance. Just be aware, though, that you’re paying a premium for the extra security. We can get you a 30% discount, though!

Abxylute M4 review: Tiny iPhone game controller★★★★
Your iPhone is always ready to have fun with the Abxylute M4 game controller.
Photo: Ed Hardy/Cult of Mac

The Abxylute M4 game controller is genuinely pocket-size, but clip it to your iPhone and you’ll have all the buttons and sticks you want to play retro and modern games.

It clings to your iPhone’s MagSafe connector, plus it includes a stand for detached gaming.

I enjoyed testing out the pint-size game controller with my iPhone 17, as long as I accepted the reasons for its necessary limitations. The affordable price helped a lot, too.

Ugreen’s most affordable NAS units will solve your data storage problem [Review] ★★★★

Ugreen DH2300 is an entry-level NAS.★★★★
The Ugreen DH2300 will cut down your reliance on cloud storage.
Photo: Rajesh Pandey/Cult of Mac

Ugreen’s DH2300 and DH4300 Plus are network-attached storage devices for people who don’t want to handle the complexity associated with a NAS. They offer tons of local storage, simple setup and a price that makes ditching cloud subscriptions far more appealing.

I wanted a simple setup, since my family would use the NAS for backing up their devices and photos. So I tested both the Ugreen NASync DH2300 and the 4300 Plus to see how well they work.

This Sandisk SSD is so tiny it can live on your MacBook [Review] ★★★★

By

SanDisk Extreme Fit USB-C Flash Drive★★★★
Add a terabyte of storage to your older MacBook with this affordable SSD.
Photo: Ed Hardy/Cult of Mac

Sandisk gives its new Extreme Fit USB-C Flash Drive the crown as “the world’s smallest 1TB USB-C flash drive.” It’s undeniably very, very small — so tiny that you can leave it plugged into your MacBook. That means it can semi-permanently boost the storage capacity of your older notebook — and at quite a good price.

I tested the miniature external SSD with a variety of Apple devices, including my iPhone. Here’s how it stood up to real-world use.

Clever phone lanyard is also a convenient USB-C charging cable [Review] ★★★★☆

Satechi OntheGo USB-C Lanyard Cable★★★★☆
This lanyard lets you keep a convenient iPhone charging cable with you all the time.
Photo: Satechi

Crossbody iPhone slings are in style, and the Satechi OntheGo USB-C Lanyard Cable is a unique addition to the category. It’s both a strap to make carrying the iPhone easy and a USB-C charging cable.

I put the accessory to the test with my iPhone 17. I especially liked that I can easily swap it between iPhone cases.

Apple’s $230 iPhone Pocket: Because your pants aren’t pretentious enough

By

Photo of a brown iPhone Pocket worn crossbody-style by a model.
It's a new way to carry your iPhone! If you need that. Which you don’t.
Photo: Apple

At any normal price, the new iPhone Pocket is silly. At $230, it’s silly and pretentious. Apple charges a hefty fee for an unholy union between a scarf and a sock.

It’s easy to mock, and the internet did plenty of that Tuesday after Apple took the wraps off its latest iPhone accessory. But the iPhone Pocket drew immediate fans, as well. In fact, Vogue said the fashion-forward iPhone sack “could just be the season’s must-have accessory.”

Tiny, super-fast Planck SSD is perfect for recording iPhone video [Review] ★★★★★

By

Planck SSD review: Tiny drive perfect for iPhone videographers★★★★★
This is the SSD your iPhone has been waiting for.
Photo: Ed Hardy/Cult of Mac

The Planck SSD was created specifically for iPhone, and is so small and well-designed that it plugs into the handset’s USB-C port and practically disappears. But there’s still room for up to 2 terabytes of storage.

Even better, it’s rocket-fast. So fast that it enables high-resolution/high-framerate ProRes video to be recorded from iPhone Pro models, making the Planck SSD an ideal tool for creators and professional videographers.

I tested the drive and came away very impressed. It even comes with a useful collection of accessories.

Apple’s latest accessory is a designer pocket for your iPhone

Apple teamed up with the Japanese design firm behind Steve Jobs’ famous black turtlenecks to create a new iPhone accessory: the iPhone Pocket.

Inspired by “a piece of cloth” and produced in collaboration with Issey Miyake, it features a seamless, singular 3D-knitted construction.

“This clever extra pocket exemplifies those ideas and is a natural accompaniment to our products,” said Molly Anderson, Apple’s vice president of industrial design, in a press release Tuesday.

The Mophie Juice Pack wraps your iPhone in a protective case that’s also a battery that adds hours of use. On Monday, it launched versions specifically for iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max or iPhone Air.

Mophie did more than make the battery cases closely fit Apple’s latest. The updated versions deliver longer battery life, stronger protection, better ergonomics and more.

An iPhone case is always a good idea, especially with these deals. But don’t delay — the savings are available for a limited time.

Nothing makes playing advanced games on an iPhone better than a Backbone game controller. Clip one to your phone, and it basically turns the handset into a mobile gaming console, ready to play wherever you go.

There are many top-quality first-person shooters and RPGs available for iPhone. Don’t waste your time playing these great games with just a touchscreen. Get a Backbone One or a Backbone Pro controller and snap it onto your iPhone. You’ll be glad you did.

Anker’s Nano Power Bank is the iPhone battery pack Apple should have made [Review] ★★★★★

By

Photo showing Anker Nano Power Bank on back of iPhone 16 Pro in bright yellow silicone case★★★★★
Anker's slender new power bank can give your iPhone the battery boost it needs.
Photo: Lewis Wallace/Cult of Mac

With the Anker Nano Power Bank (5K, MagGo, Slim), thin is definitely in. Measuring just 0.34 inches deep, the Qi2 power bank attaches magnetically to MagSafe iPhones and delivers enough juice to get you through a frantic afternoon on the go.

At just 5,000 mAh, it won’t take modern iPhone batteries all the way to 100%. But it will power up a dead iPhone from zero to 20% in a little over 20 minutes. And it does so while attached comfortably to the phone, without the excessive heat generated by some competing power banks.

Alongside the iPhone Air, Apple launched a battery pack specifically for the phone. And interestingly, the iPhone Air MagSafe Battery uses the same capacity battery as the device it supports.

The folks over at iFixit tore down the iPhone Air MagSafe Battery and discovered its unusual shape. Based on preliminary evidence, they concluded Apple might be using the exact same battery inside the iPhone Air.

Take 4TB of super-fast USB4 storage anywhere with LaCie Rugged SSD4 [Review] ★★★★★

By

LaCie Rugged SSD4 review★★★★★
The LaCie Rugged SSD4 is rugged, fast and holds up 4TB.

The just-launched LaCie Rugged SSD4 from Seagate is for “creators working beyond the four walls of a studio.” It’s designed to stand up to punishment while offering terabytes of storage and USB4 data transfer speeds. That’s fast enough for iPhone Pro users to record ProRes 4K video.

I put the SSD through real-world testing. Here’s how it came out.

Even better, the GameSir X5s costs under $50.

The new models include the UltraCharge Pro 3-in-1 Magnetic Charging Dock for use in the office, plus a pair of multidevice wireless chargers for travel.

Rolling Square Supertiny review★★★★
We went hands-on with the wee little Rolling Square Supertiny.
Photo: Ed Hardy/Cult of Mac

Rolling Square claims, “Supertiny is the smallest 65W GaN Charger ever.” It’s definitely very small, but can still quickly power up a MacBook or other full-size computer.

I put the claims to the test and came away impressed. I do have one caution, though.

Mini keyboard saves you from typing on cramped iPhone screen [Review] ★★★★☆

By

Winmaxle Mobdel B1 with iPhone 16 Plus★★★★☆
The Winmaxle Mobdel B1 adds a physical keyboard to your iPhone, and it's easier to type on than a virtual keyboard.
Photo: Ed Hardy/Cult of Mac

The Winmaxle Mobdel B1 can be a physical keyboard for typing on your iPhone, harking back to the days of the BlackBerry. And because it’s also a motion-sensitive mouse, you can use it with your iPad, too. Either way, it’s a handy little gizmo.

I found multiple uses for the wireless keyboard while I was testing it. But I also ran into a limitation that made it not as useful with my iPad as I hoped.

The Twelve South Curve Nano is an iPhone stand designed to go with you anywhere. It’s slim and lightweight when folded, but flips open to support your handset when you’re watching video, making a video call and more.

I tried it out with my iPhone 16 Plus, both at home and on the go. Here’s what I found.

Smartish Wallflower combines iPhone finger loop, suction mount and kickstand
Don’t carry three accessories when one can do what your iPhone needs.
Photo: Smartish

The Smartish Wallflower magnetically attaches to your iPhone, where it’s ready to do three important jobs. It’s a finger loop so you don’t drop your handset, it’s a stand to prop up the device, and it’s even a suction mount so the iPhone can stick to many surfaces.

The clever accessory launched Tuesday.
