Dragons’ Den for iOS Is Not Worth the Investment, So I’m Out! [Review]

By

Dragons-Den-Main

As a big fan of the TV show here in the U.K., I was very much looking forward to the release of the Dragons’ Den official game when I heard it was making its way to the App Store. With little disposable income in real-life, I was looking forward to getting my hands on some virtual millions and carefully investing in some whacky inventions.

I downloaded Dragons’ Den from 2waytraffic as soon as it hit the App Store, but I’m rather disappointed with version 1.0.

Update: The app is now in the App Store: https://bit.ly/countcon

Here’s a simple app that’s unlike anything we’ve seen so far. CountCon, soon to be available in the iTunes App Store for $0.99, will allow you to set a countdown (seconds, minutes, hours, days). The countdown will then appear on your home screen as a badge that automatically updates when needed. It’s currently being reviewed. And finally, it’s a universal application. Check out the demo video after the break!

Ever since we exclusively learned that Apple was planning to use near-field communications not just to enact mobile retail payments but to enable an “>ambitious remote computing service that will allow you to literally carry around your Mac on your iPhone, we’ve been excited to see NFC hit the iPhone.

But contrary to previous reports, don’t expect it this year. Apple’s plans for NFC are too ambitious to realize before 2012, according to a new report.

Ignore the Sony in the background; this tiny gadget is all Apple.

It may not be as pretty as an Apple product (but seriously — what is), and at $180, it’s almost double the price of the ATV. But Elgato’s HDHomeRun comes in swinging for the fences with a trick Apple’s little black coaster doesn’t have: the ability to stream live TV, in HD, to your Mac or iPad — even over a 3G connection.

By

Conventional wisdom has held that the next iPhone won’t ship until September, at Apple’s annual iPod event. That’s three months later than Apple’s historic iPhone release cycles would suggest.

If the idea of waiting an extra three months for your next phone gets your blood boiling, though, it might get even worse: one report is now suggesting that the next iPhone won’t ship until November 21st.
