This 24 Karat Unibody MacBook Pro Could Have Been Designed By Jonny Ive’s Imaginary Pimp Brother [Gallery]

By

24k-mbp13-5

So what we have here is a MacBook Pro slathered in so much 24 karat gold and multi-colored sapphire encrustation that you’d think it was a rapper’s bridgework. In fact, the guys over at Computer Choppers took this whole crazy idea so far that they even gold-plated the keyboard.

You know what they say: one man’s bling is another man’s vomitsome eyesore. Check out more pictures after the jump.

Delay In A6 Production May Mean No iPad 3 This Year… And Long Wait Next Year [Report]

By

Screen-shot-2011-03-02-at-2.11.05-PM110302191204

If you’re still banking on Apple releasing the iPad 3 this October, this might disappoint you: there’s just no chance that an A6 SoC will be ready this year. In fact, if there’s going to be a quad-core chip at the heart of the iPad 3 at all, we might be looking at an iPhone 5 sized delay between tablet generations by the time the next iPad comes around.

Apple Used OS X Lion To Destroy An Entire Galaxy! [Humor]

By

M31_Apple_Comparison-1

You know the new default Lion wallpaper of the Andromeda Galaxy? It’s a heavily photoshopped version of this Astronomy Picture of the Day.

Apple’s version sure is pretty, but do you notice anything else different about it? If you’re eagle eyed, you’ll probably see the problem: along with wiping out several stars, Apple has also deleted an entire galaxy from the picture.

Did You Hear The One About The Swiss Guy Who Walked Into His Local Apple Store With An Assault Rifle? [Image]

By

Reddit’s consensus is that this Apple Store is in Switzerland, and this gentleman packing an assault rifle is just one of Switzerland’s many soldiers just walking around with his BFG in one of the most heavily armed countries in the world.

Our guess? He wants to have a leverage point when the Genius Bar tells him his iPhone has one too many pink moisture indicators for warranty replacement.

Surprise! Acer’s New Ultrabook Is A Shoddy Ripoff Of The MacBook Air!

By

Acer-Ripoff

I love it. Not only is Acer totally ripping off the design of the MacBook Air for their new “ultrabook”, the Aspire 3951, but even though it looks cheaper than the real thing, it’ll almost definitely be more expensive than the $999 Air as well.

Edit: Wasn’t it just a few days ago that Acer’s founder was saying that the MacBook Air was just a silly fad? Why, yes, it was.

Is This The First iPhone 5 Unboxing Video? ZAGG Wants Us To Think So.

By

SAMSUNG

Let us answer our own headline: no, it jolly well isn’t. Rather, it’s a pretty self-evident, tongue-in-cheek fake put forward by case and skin makers ZAGG.

How was it done? Well, you never actually get to see a good look at the iPhone 5’s supposedly bigger screen until the standard image at the end, so it looks like a custom box, an iPhone 3GS and a Photoshop to me.

“We Want Super Mario On The iPhone!” Nintendo Investors Riot [Report]

By

nes_iphone_mario (1)

Even in the dark years when they were caught off guard by the momentum of the Sony PlayStation, Nintendo has kept their characters in-house, exclusive to Nintendo brand hardware. They learned their lesson from the dark days of the CD-i.

Now, though, investors within Nintendo are pressuring the beleaguered gaming giant to bring their most well-known properties like Mario, Donkey Kong, Zelda and Pokemon to other platforms… specifically, the App Store.

What Would Happen If Samsung Just Stopped Making Parts For The iPhone?

By

samsungapple810

It’s unlikely that Samsung would just suddenly stop making components for Apple with no notice — for one thing, it’s probable that air-tight product contracts are in place that would prevent Samsung from doing just that — but let’s get hypothetical: what would happen if Cupertino’s legal campaign resulted in Samsung just taking all of its silicon and going home?

Short answer: it wouldn’t be pretty.

This Is How A Cute New York Girl Ended Up With Four iPads For A Head [Video]

By

Do you remember the girl with four iPads for a head? In it, a pretty New York girl walked through a park in a helmet made up of a cube of iPads, all of which showed on their displays the girl’s face as if she were walking through the park without her skull being encased in tablets.

It was a publicity stunt for Cosmo for Guys, and a pretty neat video, but I have to say I’m disappointed with how the advertising company actually accomplished the feat.

This Is The Best And Most Realistic Take On What The iPhone 5 Will Look Like Yet [Gallery]

By

iphone5-3

MacRumors had a really bright idea: why not take those iPhone 5 case designs that have been knocking about and hire a design studio to turn them into rendered mockups?

The results are stunning, and our best look yet at what Apple might have envisioned for the iPhone 5: a slimmer design, a larger display and a wider capacitive home button. I’m not personally so sure about the iPod Touch like silver back, but even so, these are just great…

Facebook Messenger App Lets You Chat With Your Friends, Video Chat May Be Coming Soon

By

Facebook-MessengerLarge

Someone must use Facebook’s chat system, because the social networking giant just released Facebook Messenger, a dedicated iOS app that allows you to send and receive messages or chat with friends on your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch. It even comes with push notifications so you won’t miss any messages.

More interestingly, though, Facebook’s Messenger app contains files that hint at future video calling functionality to come.

BlueLounge’s MiniDock Turns Any Electric Socket Into An iPhone Dock

By

minidock

There’s two main ways of charging your iPhone or iPod: you either plug it into your computer or you plug it into your wall. Either way, though, you’ll need a USB cable to get juice to your device.

That’s why the BlueLounge MiniDock is so brilliant. Just plug it into your standard Apple charger’s USB port and it’ll allow you to dock your iPhone or iPod so it sits leaning up against the wall, silently suckling from the mains.

My only gripe? It doesn’t appear that the iPad is supported. Maybe for revision 2. In the mean time, one of BlueLounge’s beauties will cost you just $20.
