The X40 Turbo is the follow-up to my previous personal favorite charger, the X40. In addition to extra power, the new model boasts a refined design while maintaining its predecessor’s stellar build quality. It comes with everything you need in the box: the charger, a cable, a power adapter and a nice linen travel case.

Three-in-one chargers can drastically simplify your charging life. You don’t need a separate cable and power adapter for your iPhone and Apple Watch, and you don’t need to worry about topping up your AirPods or whether they can share a cable. With a single charger on your desk, nightstand or bag, you can wake up with all your gear charged to 100% every day.
MagSafe, Apple’s standard for wireless charging on the iPhone 12 and later (except for the iPhone 16e), is the magic that makes chargers like this one such a joy to use. Just put your iPhone on the charger, and it magnetically attaches and begins juicing up.
MagSafe was eventually adapted into the Qi2 standard, bringing compatibility with Android phones. And the latest version, Qi2.2, boosts wireless power delivery from 15W to 25W.
The Kuxiu X40 Turbo supports Qi2.2, making it one of the few full-power MagSafe devices for the iPhone. It also happens to be a favorite of mine.

Kuxiu’s accordion design is my very favorite among travel chargers. Collapsed, it’s a compact little square. Unfolded, you can prop your phone up top in StandBy mode, hang your Apple Watch off the back, and set your AirPods (or a second phone) on the bottom.
The materials are excellent. The aluminum case is CNC machined, sandblasted and anodized, just like all the best Apple products. The soft-touch rubber pads feel fantastic. Kuxiu even put a rubber pad around the Apple Watch charging puck, which it didn’t have to do, but it makes sure every part that you touch feels premium.
The X40 Turbo comes in gray (which I have), black and cosmic orange (color-matched to the iPhone 17 Pro). You can also choose gray with a dark brown woodgrain pattern.
Smaller, lighter, better all around

The design of the Kuxiu X40 Turbo has improved over its predecessors, the X40 and the X40Q. It’s by far the company’s smallest and lightest version yet. Compared to the X40Q, it’s 33% thinner and 30% lighter, with a 12% smaller footprint. This adds up to make it more portable than ever.
The colors have improved as well. The Apple Watch charger is now color-matched, not white. The line art is darker and more subtle. I still don’t like that the regular Qi charger shows an AirPods case, because you can charge other Qi devices like older iPhones and Android devices on it. However, it’s much more understated than the white-on-black color scheme of the original Kuxiu X40.
Charging speeds
There’s a whole wide world of MagSafe chargers, accessories and stands. And nearly all of them only deliver the original 15W of power. But, as mentioned, newer iPhones support much higher speeds than that.
The iPhone 17 lineup supports 25W charging across the board — except for the iPhone Air, which gets up to 20W. The older iPhone 16 lineup supports 22.5W on the midsized models and 25W on the Plus and Pro Max sizes.
The Kuxiu X40 Turbo is one of the very few Qi2.2 chargers available now, meaning it supports 25W for both iPhone and Android.
I don’t personally care about turbo-charging speeds — I charge my phone all night and all day while I’m at my desk. But it’s good to know that if the need arises, I’ve got a charger that can put out the most power possible.
Great travel charger, or perfect for a nightstand

With the Kuxiu X40 Turbo, you get everything you need in the box: the charger itself, a USB-C cable, a power adapter and a convenient linen case you can zip everything up in. The case is nice and lightweight, perfectly sized for all the pieces, and relatively flat for stowing in any kind of bag.
The cord is just the right length to reach from a nightstand to an outlet on the floor. It might be a hard reach on a desk, but any quality USB-C cable will work if you want to swap it out for a longer one.
After testing the Kuxiu X40 Turbo thoroughly for this review, I now use it as my bedstand charger. I shuffled the older X40Q and cheaper X55 down to my partner and my suitcase, respectively.
