Apple’s widely rumored augmented reality glasses will be released sometime between March and June of 2021, according to leaker and YouTuber Jon Prosser, contradicting a report Thursday from Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo that the product is on course for its debut in 2022.

Albanian-Italian Apple fan and 24-year-old designer Xhakomo Doda went back to the past for his latest concept, showing one possible direction Apple could take when it eventually releases a redesigned iMac. All the way back to 2002, specifically.

Doda’s iMac G4 New Edition is, as its name suggests, a refreshed take on Apple’s iMac G4: the sunflower-inspired iMac with a floating display on an adjustable arm. And it’s pretty darn stunning.

Gold Apple Watch keeps on ticking after 9 months underwater

It's not a Timex, but this Apple Watch keeps on tickin'.

It wasn’t an experiment, but it might as well have been one.

YouTuber Dan Markham lost his limited-edition 24-carat gold Apple Watch Series 4 in deep water almost a year ago. After a failed attempt to find it, he and a colleague hit pay dirt at the bottom of a manmade lake along the Utah-Arizona border.

The rest is a story of resourcefulness and a little cleanup.

Dystopia doesn’t get any more disturbing than The Handmaid’s Tale [What We’re Into]

What We're Into bug If you thought life during COVID-19 lockdown seems awful, trust me — it’s got nothing on Gilead. That’s the fictional setting of The Handmaid’s Tale, a riveting dystopian TV show that’s racked up awards for Hulu since its 2017 debut on the streaming service.

I’ve burned my way through the first season, and I can’t take my eyes off this terrifying vision of a perverted future.

Apple is exploring technologies needed to make this foldable iPhone concept a reality.

The iPhone 12 Flip is the foldable iOS device many are hoping for. This proposed concept fits a large screen into a tiny package.

While currently only a dream, Apple is hard at work on technologies that could eventually make it real.

iOS 15 concept goes minimalist with the Home screen

iOS concept thinks simple, not more complex.
An iOS 15 concept design simplifies the Home screen... and looks familiar.
Concept: Roland Mészáros

When concept designers imagine the future of iOS, they often pack in new features. A new design goes the opposite route, simplifying the look of the iPhone to “keep you focused,” in the words of the artist.

Still, it finds space for some Home screen widgets, which are supposed to debut in iOS 14.

Easily take notes on your iPad with inexpensive Meco Stylus Pen [Review]

Meco Stylus Pen review
Meco Stylus Pen costs far less than many rivals, and might be the only stylus you need for your iPad.

The Meco Stylus Pen is an affordable alternative to Apple Pencil. It’s well suited for taking handwritten notes on a range of iPad models, and offers palm rejection. And while it doesn’t have the features artists need, it offers a long battery life and is simple to connect to your iPad.

I tested this budget active stylus by taking notes and sketching out ideas. Here’s how it stood up to real-world use.

Apple’s rumored over-the-ear headphones will include sensors to detect if they have been removed from the owner’s head or neck to stop or start audio, according to a Monday report from 9to5Mac. The headphones apparently will offer customizable equalizer settings as well.

Now that iPadOS supports mice and trackpads, it’s a better time than ever to turn your iPad into a mini iMac. To do that, you need the Slope: a nice-looking stand that props up your iPad at the perfect angle for working. Just slide a keyboard and trackpad underneath, and you have something that resembles Apple’s new Magic Keyboard, but at a fraction of the price.

Made from anodized aluminum, the Slope looks good in the kitchen, on your desk or at bedside. It keeps your iPad out of the muck when cooking, or at the perfect angle for watching videos.

Apple leaker reveals price and storage options for iPhone 12 and 12 Pro handsets

Are you excited about this year's iPhone refresh?
Photo: LetsGoDigital

Apple leaker Jon Prosser shared new details — including the alleged price and storage options — for the 2020 iPhone 12 refresh in a new video Monday.

Prosser said Apple will offer a pair of regular iPhone 12 handsets and another pair of iPhone 12 Pro devices. Each line will sport two screen size options — although the iPhone 12 Max will be the same size as the iPhone 12 Pro regular, while the 12 Pro Max will be biggest of all.

But you’d better be ready to shell out for the most expensive option!

Apple leakers confident 14-inch MacBook Pro will come next year

The new 14-inch laptop could take design cues from the 16-inch model.

Apple’s new 13-inch MacBook Pro was more of a minor tweak than a major upgrade. But Twitter leaker @L0vetodream suggests that Apple’s rumored, improved 14-inch MacBook Pro could be on the way — although not until next year.

The 14-inch MacBook Pro was expected by some fans as a replacement for the 13-inch laptop. However, this didn’t happen and, as a result, a lot of the innovative new features of the 16-inch MacBook Pro are still MIA.

Defending Jacob takes an unsettling turn in 5th episode [Apple TV+ review]

J.K. Simmons takes us to an unsettling new place in this week's episode.

Things start to get unbearably tense and inhumane as pressure builds on the Barber family in Defending Jacob’s fifth episode, “Visitors.” The show takes a number of risks that may pay rich dividends in future episodes — as long as the showrunners remember not to flinch.

New guest stars — including veteran actor J.K. Simmons — and old vendettas surface in Friday’s new episode. And the Barbers head toward what might turn out to be a moral dead end if they want to stop their son, Jacob, from going to prison. Can we say climax?

Why it’s taking so long for apps to add Dark Mode

Has your favorite app embraced the dark side yet?
Has your favorite app embraced the dark side yet?
Photo: Graham Bower/Cult of Mac

This week, I finally got around to adding Dark Mode support to Reps & Sets, the iPhone bodybuilding app I develop as a side hustle. That’s almost a year after Apple first announced the feature at its Worldwide Developers Conference.

What took me so long? Supporting Dark Mode is not as simple as it seems. It’s not just indie devs like me who have struggled with it, either. WhatsApp only recently added Dark Mode support, and Facebook is still beta-testing it.

So if you’re waiting for your favorite app to switch to the dark side, here’s why it might be taking so long.

Gorgeous iPhone 12 renders could spill new camera secrets

Render shows iPhone 12 camera with three lenses
The basic iPhone 12 might have three camera lenses, just as the current iPhone Pro models do.
Photo: Pigtou/xleaks7

The 6.1-inch iPhone 12 will jump from dual to triple camera lenses, if an unconfirmed report is correct. New renders supposedly showing other details this handset came to light as well.

If the basic 2020 iPhone gets a big camera upgrade, this would further blur the line between the iPhone 12 and the more expensive iPhone 12 Pro models. Previous leaks indicate that every iOS device coming this fall will have 5G and an OLED screen.

The reviews are in. Apple's new Magic Keyboard gets the spotlight.

The first reviews of the new 13-inch MacBook Pro all praise the laptop’s Magic Keyboard and laud the demise of the pesky butterfly keyboard.

Across the board, reviewers love the keyboard upgrade. But they also appreciate the faster processor and doubled storage in the long-overdue update. Here’s a roundup of the very first reviews of the 2020 13-inch MacBook Pro, which Apple released on May 4.
