The iPhone 7 may come with a Smart Connector if photos of what appears to be an early iPhone 7 Plus unit can be believed.
Photos of the alleged iPhone 7, leaked by a Chinese website, show Apple integrating a dual-lens camera into the design of the rear case. If the case is accurate, it looks like Apple won’t be ditching its protruding camera lens this year.
It’s unclear if Apple will use the dual-lens camera on the iPhone 7 as well as the 7 Plus. Early rumors have suggested Apple will make the feature exclusive to the iPhone 7 Plus due to supply constraints in late 2016.
Russian design firm Feld & Volk — famous for its gaudy iPhone modifications — has already created renderings of what the iPhone 7 Plus would look like if the leaked case above is genuine. Feld & Volk also has a reputation for getting its hands on iPhone parts before launch, but their sources haven’t confirmed whether the leaked iPhone 7 case is authentic.

iPhone 7 leak shows Smart Connector
The addition of a Smart Connector on the iPhone 7 hasn’t been mentioned by previous rumors. Apple debuted the new connector, which can power devices and transmit data, on the iPad Pro. (The upcoming 9.7-inch iPad Pro is also expected to get the feature.)
Adding a Smart Connector to the iPhone 7 could alleviate some fans’ concerns about charging and listening to headphones at the same time if Apple kills the headphone jack as expected.

It wouldn’t surprise me if the SmartConnecter is their way of getting around “wireless charging” on a metal chassis. Kind of defeats the point though unless there’s a dock of some sort that keeps the phone in the right place for the male connector to meet it.
I don’t buy it. That camera looks hideous. No way would Jony Ive sign off on that.
Why not? It basically uses the same design language as before, it’s just accommodating twin lenses now.
Can’t be any worse than that extended battery case that this site focused on for a few weeks.
That was a French inspired design from the Hunchback of Notre Damme. Obviously you don’t know design when you see one!
Jony Ive would sign off literally anything as long as it’s a few millimetres thinner than the previous generation.
Usually, I would say never. But I was first proven wrong with the unequal antennas around the iPhone 4. Then the off corner camera of the iPhone 5. Then the ugly bands on protruding camera of the iPhone 6. Maybe I’m just more pedantic (read a pain in the butt about design) than Apple, but this is even uglier than anything before.
Smart Connector to allow charging while using Lightning Connector headphones so you crybabies won’t complain about removing the headphone jack. But you will anyway, because millennials are entitled cunts and the worst. generation. ever.
Or maybe, you are just an effin’ lemming that thinks anything from Apple is pure genius.
Is it really that bad? everyone went crazy when they saw the first leak of the lg g5, but now once people get hold of it, it’s actually alright.
Oh dear, so it’s kinda clear now – no radical design change this time around.
I think the reason why the design is similar to the current iPhone is that it is the thinnest design Apple can come up with. I know they keep saying it but with every iteration since the first but they always find another way of thinning the device in the next design. I was hoping for a redesign that looks similar to the iPhone 5/5S but that doesn’t seem likely now.
They need to leak the $400 Bluetooth earphones that only works with the new iPhone.
Actually, the comments of gawking disbelief are so reminiscent of all the carping and moaning at the iPhone 6 leaks in 2014 (antenna lines! camera bump! obvious photoshopping!), hoping against hope to be proven wrong, that I’m rather convinced this might as well be the final design.
i don’t hate it, but then again i must be one of the only people that likes the design of the 6/6s. the only thing i’m not keen is the ditching of the headphone jack, but most of that is probably just the anticipation of everyone i know crying about it at me.
keen to see the sort of results a camera like this would bring. i’m not about to buy one, but the galaxy s7 night time photos had me thinking for a bit
This is terrible. iGnome. That’s all I see.
So the iPhone SE is rumored to look like the iPhone 5, and now the iPhone 7 is rumored to look like the iPhone 6? Man, how did the iPhone take a backseat?
Nope.
“Adding a Smart Connector to the iPhone 7 could alleviate some fans’ concerns about charging and listening to headphones at the same time if Apple kills the headphone jack as expected.” Keeping the damn headphone jack would do the trick as well.
I don’t think they’re going to do dual lenses.
Dual lenses,for 3D maybe
