We’ve seen a couple of vintage Apple I computers auctioned off over the past year or so, each with an astronomically huge price tag. Another rare Apple I was sold at a Christie’s online auction today but this time the auction failed to reach its expected price.

The winner of the auction purchased the Apple I with its original manual, schematics and photo of Steve Jobs and Woz for $387,750.

While pocketing nearly 400 grand off an old dusty computer sounds like a pretty nice pay-day to most, the Apple I was expected to sell for as much as $500,000 according to pre-auction estimates, though it wasn’t expected to break the $671,400 price tag a working Apple I received in May.

Being able to find a great restaurant in any city from your iPhone is pretty great and all that, but when you’re starving, the only thing that matters is injecting that food straight into your digestive system as soon as possible.

Rather than drooling on your way to a restaurant you found on Yelp, you can now order your meal straight from the app. Restaurants supporting the feature will have an “Order Pickup or Delivery” button on their Yelp page where you can binge on all the burritos, pizza, bonbons and kabobs you want.

Support for the new feature is limited to select locations, but Yelp says it will be rolling out to more locations in the coming weeks. The free update is available now in the App Store.

Apple and Amazon have agreed to end their lawsuit regarding the rights to use the “app store” name, leaving room for both companies to use the phrase.

The case was dismissed on Tuesday afternoon by U.S. District Judge Phyllis Hamilton in Oakland, California. The dismal comes after Apple promised Amazon it won’t sue, thus eliminating the need for a counterclaim from Amazon.

Using your iPhone while driving is a huge no-no unless you want to die in a fiery crash of metal and flesh. Rather than putting all of its hopes behind Siri though, Apple has dreams of replacing all of your dashboard controls with a touchscreen interface.

According the the U.S. patent filing No. 8,482,535, Apple has developed a concept that would replace the analog controls of car dashboard with tactile and touch screen controls so you can keep your eyes on the road while adjusting temperature or changing the radio station.

We already know that companies can track our location in real-time through a smartphone’s GPS and serve deals or ads relevant to your location, but what if your iPhone could predict where you’re going to go in 24 hours?

A group of researchers have created an algorithm that uses location tracking data on people’s phones to predict where they will be 24 hours from the present. Shockingly, the average error is within a mere 20 meters.  

Following the release of the iOS 7 beta 3 this morning, Apple has also released the third preview of OS X 10.9 Mavericks to developers this evening. The new preview comes two weeks after Apple released the second beta for Mavericks.

The  new release doesn’t contain any major new features, but focus mostly on bug fixes and performance. In an email to developers, Apple encourage beta testers to: haven’t discovered any major changes in the Mavericks preview 3 yet,

Apple CEO Tim Cook is on the list of guests expected to attend the annual Sun Valley conference in Idaho this week.

The conference is held by New York-based investment bank Allen & Co., and hosts over 300 industry leaders participate in panels on politics, business, tech and more over a four day period. It’s basically a place for some of the most powerful business people in the U.S. to figure out how to become more powerful as they hangout and try to strike up business deals.

Apple released the third beta of iOS 7 to developers this morning, and even though it doesn’t come with any big new features, the new update has plenty of small fixes and encouraging UI refinements.

The ability to jump into iTunes and download practically any major motion picture ever created is just one of the many reasons why the iPhone and iPad have become so successful, but a Florida lawyer claims Apple’s HD video rentals are actually a scam.

According to a class action lawsuit filed this June by Scott Weiselberg at the San Francisco federal court, Apple may have violated consumer production laws and deceived customers into paying $1 more for HD videos by serving up HD versions of iTunes video rentals on iOS devices that don’t support HD video.

Twitter is continuing to refine its Mac and iOS apps with a new update that brings direct message notification syncing and a host of other features. Now when you view a DM on your iPhone, Mac, iPad or Android or Twitter.com, all other devices with your account info will be updated to show that you’ve read the message.

The new Twitter update for iPhone and iPad also features a new reply composer to make it even easier to join conversations on Twitter. There’s also a new “People” button to help users find new accounts to follow and a ton of bug fixes.

As the App Store’s 5th birthday approaches this Wednesday Apple has decided to run a special promotion to celebrate all the incredible apps that have made the iPhone and iPad so successful.

Two weeks after releasing the second iOS 7 beta,  Apple has seeded iOS 7 beta 3 to developers along with a third preview of Xcode 5. The new beta build of iOS 7 (11A4414e) is available for both iPhone and iPad as an OTA update, or you can download it directly from the Dev Center.

Apple released the third beta of OS X 10.8.5 (build 12F17) to developers today.  In the seed note Apple asks developers to focus on Wi-Fi, Graphics, Wake from Sleep, PDF viewing, and Mobile Device Management.

Given the planned release of OS X Mavericks this fall, 10.8.5 could very well end up being the last major version of Mountain Lion before Mavericks ships to the public. A developer beta of Mavericks was made available to developers the week of WWDC.

The new Mac Pro looks incredible. It’s simple, compact and elegant, yet packs enough horsepower to do some serious work. Even though we don’t know what its final price tag will be, there’s one addition that could definitely improve upon the design of the Mac Pro: glass.

Concept artist Martin Hajek created some new mockups of what the Mac Pro would look like if its beautiful guts were on display through a glass case, and the final results are pretty incredible looking:

Ashton Kutcher’s cinema debut as Steven Paul Jobs is just six weeks away, so it’s about time to start plastering movie theater walls with JOBS posters.

A new poster for Kutcher’s movie was released today and features a colorful portrait of Ashton in the role of Steve Jobs, along with the tagline “Some see what’s possible, others change what’s possible.”

The movie arrives in theaters August 16th and also stars James Woods, Dermot Mulroney, Amanda Crew, and Josh Gad. Here’s the first official trailer:

Apple just hired one of the biggest CEOs in fashion to work on some “special projects” under CEO Tim Cook. Maybe to add a touch of fashion to an upcoming iWatch?

According to a report from Bloomberg’s Adam Satariano, former Yves Saint Laurent CEO, Paul Deneve is heading to Apple to work as a new VP reporting directly to Tim Cook, but he won’t be filling Apple’s vacant seat for Head of Retail.

Yahoo’s spree of buying startups continues as the company announced today that it bought the New York-based startup, Qwiki – a video app that combines pictures, music and video to create shareable stories.

Rovio, makers of the all-mighty Angry Birds franchise, kicked off the launch of its new publishing company last month with its first game Icebreakers: A Viking Voyage hitting the App Store last month, but the company already has a new game on deck.

Earlier this morning Rovio  announced that its second game, Tiny Thief, will be hitting iOS and Android next week. Details on the new game are pretty scant, but Rovio says its a stealth-based puzzle-solving game.

Based on the trailers it looks like you’ll be trying to steal hidden items by covertly creating a chain of events to open up the map for ultimate thievery.

Long distance flights have never been more bearable thanks to the invention of the iPad. Now you can just you melt into a five hour Kindgom Rush spree while the guy next to you snores deep into his peanut induced slumber, and if you want to do it all hands free, Griffin’s got a new iPad mount that’d be perfect for you.

Southwest Airlines announced today that it has partnered with DISH to offer free in-flight TV on all of its Wifi equipped planes. The free tv service launches today and is available to fliers with an iPad, iPhone, or almost any other smartphone or tablet.

Apple has been under heavy scrutiny the past few months for its tax practices and off-shore cash pile, but the criticism that Apple isn’t paying enough taxes isn’t likely to stop thanks to a new report that claims Apple paid zero corporate tax in the United Kingdom last year.

According to a report from the Financial Times, Apple was able to avoid paying corporate taxes in the UK last year by using tax deductions from share awards to employees that basically offset the amount of taxes Apple owed through September 2012, all of which is completely legal.

Kayne West totally loves Steve Jobs. In fact, Yeezy proclaimed that he’s going to be like the  “Steve of  Internet,” because writing rhymes and wearing flashy clothing is the same thing as creating the iPod, iPhone, iPad, iMac, iTunes, and all that.

Needless to say, Mr. West is fascinated by the mystique and charisma of El Jobso, so for a Father’s day gift, his girlfriend Kim Kardashian gave him an Apple mouse signed by Steve Jobs himself. No M.C. can do without a hype man though, so Kim flew Woz out to the hospital and he signed the other mouse himself.

Basically, it’s like Zipcar only for office spaces.

The magic of the service is that, like Zipcar, there’s no hassle to get into your rented space. Once you’ve reserved a room you can just walk up to the door and it will unlock at the press of button. No secretary to give you a key. No ID needed or forms to sign. Everything happens on your iPhone.

Since taking over as CEO of Yahoo last year, Marissa Mayer has pushed the company to make some huge improvements to its apps for iOS. So far we’ve been treated to stellar updates to Yahoo Weather, News and Flickr and the improvements keep coming as the company just published a nice update for its news app.

Yahoo News for iOS received an impressive redesign in April but today’s update cleans up some of the article navigation and adds better Yahoo! Mail integration, quicker sharing, and sponsored stories.

Here are all the new features:
