I got sick of having to tap a zillion buttons just to iMessage a photo to somebody, so I made a shortcut that lets me tap an icon on my Home screen, and sends my latest photo automatically to a preselected friend.
That’s it. You tap it, and the shortcut grabs the last photo you shot, and sends it. If that sounds like something you want, check it out.
Here’s the Smart Cover for the latest iPad models in papaya. Photo: Apple
Apple just took the wraps off fresh accessories for the tablets it unveiled this morning. There are cases in a variety of colors for both the new iPad Air and iPad mini.
There’s also a leather cover for the 10.5-inch iPad Air. And this model can use a Smart Keyboard designed for an earlier Apple tablet.

Creating great digital art requires great tools, and a few graphic design apps. Unfortunately that also means spending a ton of money. So this deal on one of the best industry-standard Mac apps is a can’t-miss opportunity.
But they won't be ready for streaming for a while. Photo: Ste Smith/Cult of Mac
Five of Apple’s original TV shows have now finished filming, according to a new report. They have entered post-production ahead of the company’s March 25 event, but they’re not expected to be available until the fall.
Apple is said to be working on around six other shows that are still in production. The company is also developing lots more original content that is planned to debut in 2020.
The Apple Online Store has mysteriously gone down this morning, leading fans to wonder whether AirPower and new iPads are on the way.
Apple has an event planned for March 25, but it is thought that will focus on services rather than hardware. It is certainly plausible that refreshed devices will be added to the store this morning without much fanfare.
What a feast of glitchy electronica we have for you this week. Photo: Cult of Mac
This week we mangle music with Enso, the amazing new audio looper for iPad, and chop up images with Hyperspektiv 2.0. Plus we showcase a new music player app and a big update to our favorite writing app.
With four outlets, including a Qi-wireless pad, and plugs for international wall outlets, this is one charging hub for all your devices. Photo: Cult of Mac Deals
Portable power is at a premium in our always-on age. But carrying around a bunch of batteries isn’t really a solution. What you want is a single device that can juice up all your gear.

The Mophie Juice Pack Access is designed to extend the already long battery lives of the 2018 iPhone models. And charging can be done wirelessly, so the handset’s Lightning port is always available.
We put this new battery pack to the test. And we also compare it to the features of Apple’s similar Smart Battery Case.
Edge-to-edge protection for your iPhone's screen. Photo: Just Mobile
A few weeks ago, I dropped my iPhone down a flight of stairs. What else is new? It’s a ridiculous story that no one wants to hear, and yet all of you have probably experienced something similar. However, as I rushed down those precarious steps to retrieve my undoubtedly shattered iPhone, I was completely surprised.
Not because I didn’t think my Xkin screen protector would hold up against the 10-foot drop but because I had completely forgotten it was even on my screen in the first place! Not until I saw zero damage did I remember I installed the Xkin 3D Tempered Glass onto my iPhone months ago.
I completely forgot it was even there. How? Just Mobile’s rounded, full-coverage design runs edge to edge, including the iPhone’s curved screen. Xkin might as well be invisible.

Yoinks is a digital shelf app that can also manage downloads. Photo: Charlie Sorrel/Cult of Mac
Earlier this week I wrote abut using Shortcuts to build a simple download manager for iOS. It works great, but there’s a better solution. It’s an app called Yoink, and it can be a download manager, and way more.

Steam Link’s first big update is great for controller users. Photo: Valve
Valve today confirmed a big update to its PC game streaming platform that makes desktop games more portable than ever.
Its new Steam Link Anywhere service now lets you enjoy your favorite titles anywhere in the world through the Steam Link app for mobile. But don’t get too excited if you use an iPhone or iPad.
Apple’s strict App Store guidelines mean iOS users remain left out in the cold.
Every single filter on Hyperspektiv is killer. Photo: Charlie Sorrel/Cult of Mac
Hyperspektiv is one of my favorite photo apps from the past few years. Instead of screwing with your digital photos to make them look like olde timey film photos, it screws with your digital photos to make them look crazy and awesome. It’s a glitch-style filter app, and it pretty much decimates your images, turning them into incredible video clips, and — now — still photos.
Hyperspektiv 2.0 is out, and it cranks up the heat on the image-mangling burner to H-O-T.
It’s a bad day to be in Apple IT. Photo: Jim Merithew/Cult of Mac
Update: The problems have apparently been fixed, as all the indicators on Apple’s System Status page are now green, and there are no outstanding issues listed.
If you’re having difficulties with some feature of iCloud, don’t reboot your computer or network because it’s not just you.
Apple’s official System Status page has lit up with a rash of yellow icons indicating problems.
The war between Spotify and Apple Music is heating up. Photo: Spotify
Is Apple using its control of the App Store to squeeze out rivals? That’s the question European competition regulators are looking into.
This news comes after Spotify complained that it is nti-competitive that this company isrequired to give Apple a big share of subscription fees paid through the App Store.
AirPrint is how printers should always have worked. Photo: Charlie Sorrel/Cult of Mac
There’s still something kinda magical-feeling about printing documents from your iPhone. Maybe someone sends you a long Word or Pages document that you prefer to read on paper. Or maybe you must sign a hard-copy version of a PDF and send it back via real paper mail.
You may be used to facing a task like this in your iPhone’s email app, and putting it off until you get to your Mac or PC. But chances are, if you own a fairly modern printer, you can just print right from the iPhone. In fact, once you get a taste for it, you’ll prefer printing from iOS. You will never need to deal with drivers, or pick up your 100-page print job only to find every sheet printed too small.
The answer is AirPrint. It’s how printers always should have worked.

iPhone to iPhone. Dust to dust. Photo: University of Plymouth
Want to see what happens when an iPhone is placed into a high powered blender?
No, it’s not the kind of mindless destruction porn that often pops up on YouTube. Instead, it’s a serious scientific demonstration carried out by the U.K.’s University of Plymouth. The goal? To show exactly which chemical elements make up the pricey handsets we keep in our pockets. Check out the video below.
Add an invaluable layer of security to your laptop, with a loud alarm that goes off if someone tries to steal it. Photo: Cult of Mac Deals
If you use a laptop, you probably bring it to public places like coffee shops or libraries. So when you go to get a refill or use the bathroom, the move is usually to ask your neighbor to make sure no one snatches your computer. That’s…not secure.
