Apple looks set to refresh one of the most popular Apple Watch faces, with nine new colors reportedly coming to the Modular face this fall.
The colors surfaced in the latest iOS 27 beta code, and they could point to a broader refresh landing alongside new Apple Watch hardware and accessories this fall.
Nine new Modular Apple Watch face colors spotted in beta code
Apple Watch updates don’t need to be revolutionary to make the device feel new. Sometimes, the easiest way to give an old watch an upgrade is to change how it looks every time you glance at it. And Apple looks poised to give Modular watch face users even more options when it comes to colors.
Leaker Aaron Perris, who posts as @aaronp613 on X, dug through the iOS 27 beta 5, which Apple released Monday. He found references to nine unreleased colors for the Modular face.
The names Perris found are cool slate blue-gray, dusty rose, flat sage green, muted navy blue, pale mint green, soft periwinkle blue, soft pink, warm cream and warm taupe, he wrote Tuesday on X.
However, Perris did not find any images of these new shades. Apple apparently added only the names, which could be placeholders, to its beta code.

A colorful addition to watchOS 27
Modular is one of the most widely used and well-known Apple Watch faces. It packs in several complication slots yet remains easy to read at a glance. The face already offers dozens of colors, so users can match it to a particular Apple Watch band or an outfit.
A fresh set of colors would extend that idea, offering the kind of minor update Apple adds to a fall software release tied to new hardware. The new shades could preview colors for new Apple Watch bands that would launch alongside the Apple Watch Series 12 and the Apple Watch Ultra 4 next month.
New Apple Watch face inspired by Modular Ultra
There’s a second, separate Modular story in play for watchOS 27. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says Apple is testing a new face inspired by Modular Ultra, which has been exclusive to Apple Watch Ultra models.
Gurman expected that face to appear in an earlier watchOS 27 beta. It hasn’t appeared yet, but he thinks it will arrive alongside new Apple Watch hardware this fall.
Beta code often changes before a public release, so none of this is certain. Color names without swatches or hex codes remain nothing more than hints at what Apple will ultimately release.
Even so, nine new options would be a nice bump. This is especially true for anyone who already leans on Modular as their daily face. We’ll know for sure when Apple drops the final version of watchOS 27 next month. Until then, Modular fans will need to wait for Apple to light up these nine new colors for real.
