Apple is now the world’s fourth-largest gaming company, according to a new report.
It is ranked higher than gaming giants like Nintendo, EA, and Activision — thanks mostly to the popularity of mobile gaming on iPhone. Apple is estimated to have earned $9.453 billion from games during 2018 alone.

The 2019 iPhone lineup hasn’t even been revealed yet but we might already know what next year’s iPhones will look like too.
Recent rumors have claimed that Apple will come out with new screen sizes for the 2020 iPhone lineup. The biggest iPhone will get a bit bigger while the smallest will get a little bit smaller. To see how that would look, Ben Geskin created a mockup of the upcoming devices, and they look fantastic.
Check out the size comparison with the current iPhones:

The treadmill, the hamster wheel, the rat race, the daily grind. None of us like the idea of working on other people’s terms and for other people’s goals, so no wonder there’s so much appeal to becoming a self-sufficient entrepreneur. It’s easy to dream about, but to actually do it takes guidance.

Sony could be preparing to finally step up its smartphone camera game.
A new Xperia handset has been leaked with twice as many rear-facing cameras as the upcoming iPhone 11. It will reportedly offer eight camera sensors in total, plus a gorgeous edge-to-edge display.

Among the big changes coming to Apple Watch this fall is the ability to remove many of the applications that come pre-installed on it. watchOS 6 will reportedly make it as easy to delete Apple’s own apps as third-party ones.

A partial visual pun for a firewall. Photo: Charlie Sorrel/Cult of Mac
Guardian Firewall claims to be the first proper firewall app for iOS. It works by routing all the network connections from your iPhone or iPad through a VPN, and then filtering out privacy-invading trackers on Guardian’s own servers.
The idea is that all the heavy lifting is done on those servers, so you don’t have to worry about battery drain, or on the iOS security features that prevent an app from futzing with your internet connection.
Sounds good, but should you trust Guardian Firewall?
Sound sync woes will be a thing of the past. Photo: Ste Smith/Cult of Mac
Nothing ruins a good movie like sound that’s completely out of sync. But thanks to iOS 13 and tvOS 13, you will no longer have to suffer that when watching video on your Apple TV.
A new feature lets you synchronize wireless audio devices so they’re perfectly matched.
watchOS 6 updates and apps can be installed straight onto Apple Watch. Photo: Apple
Apple Watch is taking a big stride toward independence from the iPhone. It’s possible to install the latest watchOS 6 beta directly to the Apple wearable … sort of.
This is all part of an ongoing move to make Apple Watch a stand-alone computer.
iOS 13 has almost too many features to cover -- but that won't stop us trying. Photo: Charlie Sorrel/Cult of Mac
The second iOS 13 and iPadOS betas bring both good news and bad. Unless you’re a total “thrill-seeker,” it’s still not a good idea to install these betas on your main iOS device. In fact, there will be far more spills than thrills: The code remains raw and buggy as hell.
I have iPadOS running on an old iPad. While this latest version seems much less ragged around the edges, many apps still crash. And I still can’t make the Slide Over apps hide themselves at the side of the screen. Nor do all my favorites appear in the Files app.
The good news is that, despite this, the latest betas offer several new features — and lots of stuff has been fixed. Let’s take a look at the highlights of what’s new in iOS 13 beta 2.
With this deal, you get a premium photo editing app backed by AI, and an education in how to use it. Photo: Cult of Mac Deals

Don’t forget about unused subscriptions. Screenshot: Killian Bell/Cult of Mac
iOS 13 and iPadOS now warn you if you attempt to delete apps with active subscriptions.
The new popup, which was introduced in Apple’s second beta builds on Monday, also includes a “Manage Subscription” button that makes it easier to cancel subs you no longer need.
The updated LG UltraFine 4K is larger than its predecessor, and looks great. Photo: Ed Hardy/Cult of Mac
The LG UltraFine 4K comes with a recommendation from Apple, and it’s not hard to see why: this 23.7-inch monitor was designed to work well with recent Mac models, and even the latest iPad Pro. There are several welcome enhancements in this latest version, but one change is less positive.
We went hands-on with this beautiful, $699.95 display so don’t miss our review.

Apple may be waiting a bit longer than some of its rivals to go 5G, but it will reportedly jump into this cutting-edge networking standard in a big way next year. There will be two 5G iPhone models introduced in 2020, according to a respected analyst.
LumaFusion 2 works with external screens. Photo: Luma Touch
LumaFusion is probably the best video-editing app on the iPad. It’s so capable that you can use it to edit movies at a professional level, and plenty of people do. And now you can buy LumaFusion 2, an updated version with more power, and some great new features, including support for working on an external screen, and six tracks of 4K video.
You can start testing now if you're a registered developer. Photo: Apple
Apple’s second iOS 13 and iPadOS betas are now available to registered developers. They come exactly two weeks after the first beta builds and should eliminate some of the teething troubles testers have experienced so far.

iPhone users will be able to scan German ID cards, passports, and more when iOS 13 rolls out this fall, according to local authorities.
The functionality will allow digital versions of those documents to be carried on an iOS device so that they are always accessible. Recent reports have confirmed users in Japan will be able to do the same with national ID cards.
Steve Jobs delivered his own iconic commencement address in 2005. Photo: Stanford University
During his stint as Apple CEO, Tim Cook has repeatedly credited his predecessor, Steve Jobs. But he’s also worked to make Apple into a company that doesn’t slavishly follow the path laid out by Jobs. This is most clearly seen by Cook’s doubling down on privacy, and push to embrace social causes such as LGBT rights.
That mixture was on display Sunday, when Cook delivered a commencement speech at Stanford University. In doing so, he paid homage to the legendary June 2005 Stanford address delivered by Steve, while putting his own stamp on things.
The new Noise app helps you maintain healthy hearing. Photo: Apple
One of the new health features baked into watchOS 6 is a Noise app that will tell you when the environment around you is too loud. But just how accurately can a wearable device with a tiny microphone measure noise?
You’ll be surprised. A comparison with an actual decibel meter proves Apple Watch does an unbelievably good job.
