The new Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ was faster that last-year’s iPhone XS Max in a speed test designed to test real-world use. Several improvements in the new Android model helped boost Samsung’s new flagship handset over the top.

Of course, Apple is about to introduce its own new flagship model, and comparing that to a just-released model will be a more fair test.

Craig Federighi, Apple’s VP of software, has suggested to a customer that Apple could correct an irritating UI element for Siri on iPad.

Apple user Juliano Rossi wrote Federighi about the way that the Siri interface takes up the entire iPad screen. This contrasts with Siri on the Mac, where Siri appears in a small popup window.

While Federighi doesn’t confirm that things will change, he does say that Apple will take the point into consideration.

Mouse support has drawn more attention, but giving iPad Pro full access to external drives is the biggest improvement in iPadOS 13. It will make using a tablet easier and cheaper for professionals and average users alike.

With adapters, it’s now possible to access everything from hard drives to microSD cards. This feature is a real gamechanger.

You won’t need iTunes to install the iOS 13 and iPadOS betas when they go public, Apple’s Craig Federighi has confirmed.

Registered developers who want to get their hands on the software now must download the update package and restore their device through iTunes. They must also have the new Xcode 11 beta installed.

That won’t be the case when Apple expands the reach of its betas next month.

Update: Apple says “Sign in with Apple” will be mandatory for third-party apps that require sign-ins, according to these new App Store guidelines. That means apps that currently use Facebook or Google to sign in will also have to support “Sign in with Apple.”

“It will be required as an option for users in apps that support third-party sign-in when it is commercially available later this year,” the new guidelines say.
