Apple finally made iPhone X available to pre-order this morning, and within 30 minutes, shipping times slipped. If you didn’t get your order in early, you will now be waiting 4-5 weeks for Apple to deliver.

An iPhone-compatible in-ear implant for people with hearing loss, which Tim Cook hailed as an “accessibility breakthrough,” has been released in Australia, and will launch elsewhere around the world in coming months.
The device is a collaboration between Apple and Cochlear, and is called the Nucleus 7 Sound Processor. It allows people who wear it to make phone calls, listen to podcasts, watch videos, or use their Apple device as a microphone, all using the implant.

Apple-centric software company Macphun had reached more than 20 million downloads of its imaging apps and grew so much, it recently began offering its products to Windows users.
So a name change was inevitable.
The once Mac-centric company is planning a switch to SKYLUM Software by early 2018. The new moniker comes as the 7-year-old company makes a push to be a complete alternative to the software that’s on the computer of most photographers, Adobe.

Apple batted down a report this morning that claimed the company made compromises with the iPhone X’s new Face ID hardware after the phone was revealed at last month’s keynote.
Bloomberg reported that “Apple didn’t add extra time to get it right,” referring to the dot projector on the Face ID component saying it’s accuracy is weaker now. This allegedly was done because it was holding back iPhone X manufacturing, but an Apple spokesperson says security hasn’t been weakened.

Apple has acquired New Zealand-based wireless charging systems company PowerbyProxi, the company has confirmed.
Although no financial details of the deal have been revealed, Dan Riccio, Apple’s senior vice president of hardware engineering, called the acquisition a “great addition as Apple works to create a wireless future.”
Apple has made a bunch of user interface improvements to accommodate iPhone X. One of them is a new app switching gesture that looks glorious on the handset’s edge-to-edge OLED display. See it action in the video below.

The Face ID sensor on the new iPhone X may be accurate, but according to a new report it could have been even more so if Apple hadn’t been experiencing production problems with the handset.
With the prospect of losing holiday sales, Apple reportedly “quietly told suppliers” that they could reduce the accuracy of the face-recognition technology used in the new handset in order to make it easier to manufacture.
