Along with the public release of iOS 8.4.1, which added lots of fixes for Apple Music and Beats 1, Apple also has a bevy of iTunes improvements ready today.
Apple just released iTunes 12.2.2, and the update makes using Beats 1 and Apple Music in iTunes a slightly less horrible experience.
The update is available as an update in the Mac App Store or via direct download from Apple’s website.
Fixes include the following:
- Click on the Beats 1 banner to see what’s currently on, or view a complete broadcast schedule so you never miss a show
- You can now view a list of the artists you’re following on Apple Music
- Resolved an issue where iTunes loses its place when you go back to a previous page in Apple Music
- Addressed a problem where artists may be sorted incorrectly in My Music
- Fixed a problem where playlists displayed in the action menu may not match the playlist in your library
- Artists can now share thoughts, photos, music and videos to Connect, right from iTunes.

If they didn’t fix music matching then they didn’t up their game one bit.
You can also now “Recommend Less Like This” from within curated playlists.
It seems they only offer a limited selection of albums from any one artist. I wanted to listen to a CD by the British band St. Etienne, but only 3 of their albums are available. Same for many other artists.
…are those albums available on other services?
Just checked… Apple Music has 7 Albums by Saint Etienne and Google Music has 9
I’m in Japan where Spotify and Pandora and so on aren’t available, so I can’t make a comparison. I could only find 3 “regular” albums by Saint Etienne: Foxbase Alpha, So Tough and Tiger Bay. The others seem to be other artists doing their stuff, etc.
