iOS 26 introduces a small but useful feature for iPhone users: the ability to view the estimated time remaining for a full charge. This information appears directly on the Lock Screen while your device is charging, giving you a quick glance at how long you need to wait.
You can get an even more detailed breakdown in the Battery sub-menu in the Settings app.
iPhone charging time now just a glance away
iPhones currently do not show the estimated time remaining for a full charge. Without an estimate, you’re left guessing how long it will take. Worse, Android phones have been offering this basic feature for years now. Given Apple’s track record of leading the way with battery health and charging features, its omission of a full-charge time estimate has always seemed puzzling.
Thankfully, iOS 26 changes this. It displays the remaining time for a full charge when you plug your iPhone in to charge. It works whether you use a wireless or wired charging. Dive into Settings > Battery, and you can see the estimated charge time to reach 80% as well as 100%.
iPhones automatically adjust the charging speed based on your usage pattern and charging style. So, if you plug your phone into a charger overnight, it will only top up the battery when you are about to wake up. But this becomes a problem if you have an irregular charging pattern. There’s no way to know how long it will take for a full charge, which can be frustrating.
Though minor, seeing the estimated time to full charge improves the charging experience.
iOS 26 packs several other battery-related improvements
iOS 26 also adds Adaptive Power mode to boost iPhone’s battery life under pressure.
The estimated time for a full charge feature works on all iOS 26-compatible iPhones. It does not appear to be part of iPadOS 26, but Apple may add the option in a future beta.
