Follow people you care about on Instagram.

Instagram quietly enabled an option today that makes it super-easy to keep track of your favorite accounts.

You can now set up push notifications for whenever a specific account posts a new photo. The timing of the new feature makes perfect sense with the impending release of the Apple Watch.

To enable the feature, go to an Instagram account you want to follow closely. Tap the little ellipsis at the top right, then “Turn on Post Notifications.” That’s it! From now on you’ll get a notification whenever that account posts a new photo.

What an Instagram notification will look like on Apple Watch.

While useful in its own right on the iPhone, this will be even better on the Apple Watch. We already know Instagram will have an Apple Watch app on day one and that it will take advantage of interactive notifications for people you follow. It doesn’t make sense to have your wrist buzz every time someone posts a photo on Instagram, but for the select few accounts you chose to enable, the new feature will be great.

Instagram is also rolling out a couple of new edit tools in the next few days on iOS.
