Drake is following up on his album Views, which became the first album to hit one billion streams on Apple Music, with a new song collection, scheduled to debut on the service in December.

Entitled “More Life,” Drake announced the collection during his Sunday night “OVO Sound” show on Apple Music’s Beats 1 radio station.

He also took the opportunity to debut three tracks — “Two Birds One Stone,” “Fake Love” and “Sneakin” from the forthcoming EP.

It highlights once again the mutually beneficial relationship between Drake and Apple, which started back at WWDC in 2015 and has continued — with Apple since then picking up the tab for Drake music videos like smash hit “Hotline Bling.”

Interestingly, Drake revealed on his show that “More Life” won’t be referred to as an album or mixtape, but rather as an Apple Music playlist — despite featuring all original music.

Given that relatively few albums, post-iTunes, have been designed to be listened to as start-to-finish experiences rather than a collection of songs, that distinction may strike some as nonsensical. That could be true, but it shows how seriously Drake is treating his status as Apple Music’s hand-picked artist of the moment.

Last week, Apple Music found itself as the unlikely centerpiece of a burgeoning rap feud when Kanye West blames Apple and Tidal’s “bullshit” for causing a falling out between him and Drake.

Kanye was supposed to appear alongside Jay Z on the final “Pop Style” track of Drake’s Views album — an Apple Music exclusive at launch — but that didn’t happen due to said disagreement.
