HBO talk show host Bill Maher railed on Apple for not thinking different with the iPhone 7 on his latest show. He suggested that if Apple really wanted to do some thing truly innovative, it should try not releasing a new iPhone ever year.
The comedian’s hilarious segment took aim at everyone from the shareholder that demand greatness every quarter, to the early adopters enabling the monster.
Watch Bill go in on Apple:

The iPhone 7 debuted earlier this month with the same basic look as the iPhone 6s, minus a headphone jack. The biggest visual difference is that iPhone 7 comes in two new black color options.
Apple’s new device is also water-resistant, and packs a better camera, faster processor and a new Home button.
While some pundits have claimed the iPhone 7 is a lackluster update, demand for the new devices has been much higher than expected. Both T-Mobile and Sprint claimed preorders were nearly four times greater than with the iPhone 6s.
Apple announced it won’t reveal first week sales numbers, but the CEO of iPhone-maker Pegatron says he’s optimistic that iPhone 7 sales won’t be disappointing

Bill Maher was never funny. He is mostly angry about everything and people laugh at rants.
I would agree that we could all benefit from being less consumer driven but spitting on Apple from where he sits, saying or doing anything to get a rating, is hypocritical and sad.
Couldn’t have said it better myself. I tend to be critical of our consumer culture as well, but he’s not the right messenger for this.
Whats his annual salary?
Why does that matter?
A lack luster talk show host trying to be funny by claiming someone else’s product is lack luster. Ironic, but not all that humorous.
Oh Bill. Not enough Trump v. Clinton to harpy on about, but now take issue with new iPhones? I would like something innovative, too. How about less complaining and more actual suggestions. Whether it’s early adopters or analysts, our capitalistic economy depends on the new and fresh, even if it doesn’t wow. We can’t always have wow. or WOW! Too bad, too. I liked you once. In the long ago, the before time.
Because Bill Maher is a noted technologist and is someone we should listen to about this stuff? get f*cked, liberal douche.
Billy is against profit. Apparently, he knows more than those who possess wealth what is “needed” by people. He’s an arrogant twit.
Bill Maher is talking as if everyone is going from a 1-year old iPhone 6S to the iPhone 7.
In reality, that is a very tiny proportion of the iPhone 7 purchasers!
I’m going from an iPhone 5S (with a small 4″ display, no 3D Touch, no Apple Pay compatibility, much less competent cameras, no ability to to record 4K video, etc., etc.) to an iPhone 7 Plus.
For me, this is going to be a BIG upgrade in MANY ways.
Most iPhone 7 purchasers are like me. We are upgrading iPhones that are 2, 3, or 4 or more years old. This is NOT a minor change (as Bill Maher puts it) of just getting the same phone but only a few grams lighter.
Maher is bitter, angry and totally unfunny.
My iPhone is the single most important piece of tech I own, next to my car.
I want it updated regularly and I expect the updates to be impressive.
That is not consumerism, that’s progress.
If we have to suffer the idiocy of liberalism where what sex you are is suddenly massively confusing, the least they can do is give us some shiny toys.
I think Bill Maher is hilarious. I love him. I love Apple too but there is no need to be so sensitive about anyone who says ANYTHING negative about them.
