The iPhone 7’s new Taptic Home button gives users the ability to make their “iPhone experience even more personal by choosing the click that’s right for [them].”

Revealed as part of a new iPhone 7 unboxing video by YouTuber MKBHD, the feature lets users select light, medium or “firm” haptic feedback to indicate that the handset’s new Taptic Home button has been pressed.

Check out the unboxing video below.

The Taptic feedback strength is set up as part of the initial iPhone configuration after the language region, Touch ID, Apple ID and Siri options have been confirmed. The Taptic Home button was one of the more controversial features of the new iPhone model — with multiple early reviews noting that it was difficult to get used to.

The decision to go with a Taptic button is in line with the integration of other haptic feedback systems within recent Apple devices, dating back to last year’s Apple Watch.

Not only can it reduce the number of possible faults that exist with a physical Home button but, as Apple notes in its iPhone 7 setup, it also allows users to further customize their handsets — thereby making them more personal.
