Apple hits the right notes with new ads for wireless AirPods

Apple has rolled out four new ads for its wireless AirPods, each one using the same motif of sheet music with the individual AirPods representing notes.

The ads were shared on Apple’s U.K. YouTube channel, and boast music from British artists Lianne La Havas, Craig David, and The 1975.

Check them out below.

While a simple concept, I like the ads. Apple’s always good at coming up with memorable imagery to sell its products, and in some ways this reminds me of the old iPad Air spots which compared the thickness of an iPad to that of a pencil. Here the imagery is a bit less literal, but it still works nicely. Particularly since Apple no longer has its iconic white EarPod wires to play around with.

The new ads arrive at a time when Apple is in the process of shaking up its advertising strategy. Rather than rolling out big international campaigns on television, the company is reportedly now focusing on producing shorter online ads for local markets around the world.

With the new AirPod ads coming in at around 16 seconds each, and featuring U.K.-centric music, these certainly fit that brief.

(As a side note, for our money the best wireless EarPods Apple is currently making are its Beats X wireless headphones, which we think beat the AirPods in almost every way.)

Nice ads and great earphones! :-) Only problem is that the adds say ‘AirPods on iPhone 7’ at the end of them, which is a bit misleading as people might think they ONLY work on iPhone 7, whereas actually they work just as well on earlier iPhones…
