Microsoft is gearing up to release a software development kit that will allow Android and iOS developers to integrate Xbox Live features into their games.
The SDK, which will be officially confirmed by Microsoft next month, will also be available to Nintendo Switch developers. It will make Microsoft the first console-maker to open up its platform to third-party systems.
Fortnite players can now start earning exclusive new Marshmello rewards ahead of the artist’s in-game concert on February 2.
There are four altogether, but sadly the Marshmello model that leaked in data files earlier this week isn’t one of them. You can look forward to a new spray, emote, and pickaxe, however.
World-famous electronic music producer Marshmello will perform live inside Fortnite on February 2.
Epic Games is yet to confirm the event, but hidden Battle Royale assets confirm the concert will take place in Pleasant Park at 2 p.m. ET. A stage is currently being erected in preparation.

Fortnite for iOS finally supports wireless game controllers. After installing the latest version 7.30 release, you can connect a compatible MFi controller and bid goodbye to fiddly touch controls.
But don’t expect exactly the same experience as on consoles, and don’t assume you’re going to have an advantage over other mobile players.
Here’s what you need to know about playing Fortnite for iOS with a controller.
Fortnite’s latest update is now available across all platforms, and it’s a big one — particularly for those who play on iOS devices.

Fortnite’s newest update brings a brand new item to Battle Royale, while removing one of its most frustrating weapons.
Players can surprise their enemies using the Sneaky Snowman, but it won’t be quite as easy to get around anymore, with reduced spawn chances for Quad Crashers, planes, balloons, and more.

Fortnite is like an unstoppable freight train that continues to plow through players’ wallets month after month. Despite controversial changes and additions to its insanely popular Battle Royale mode, it shows no signs of slowing down.
Even on mobile the game has been incredibly successful, with almost half a billion dollars made on iOS alone in 2018. A whopping $69 million of that was raked in during December, Fortnite’s best month so far on iOS, according to new data.

This week’s Fortnite update adds a number of new weapons to the game, including an old fan-favorite. Dual pistols can now be found in almost all Battle Royale game modes, alongside a brand new silenced sniper rifle.
The update will also bring “balance adjustments” for the boom box, the X-4 Stormwing plane, and dynamite.

Epic Games is gifting Fortnite fans a free glider following confusion over its latest event.
Many players believed they had until January 3 or 4 to complete the recent 14 Days of Fortnite challenges, and when it came to an end on January 1, they missed out on the festive rewards. The best item on offer will now be distributed for free.

Fortnite updates have been on hold while the team at Epic Games took a well-deserved holiday break, but we still saw a brand new item added to Battle Royale this week.
The controversial Boom Box wipes out buildings and structures in no time at all — and you almost certainly won’t enjoy playing against it.

The Infinity Blade won’t be quite as frustrating soon Photo: Epic Games
Fortnite’s newest item, which has seen a lot of criticism since being added to Battle Royale this week, is getting a big nerf.
Developer Epic Games has confirmed it is taking away the ability to harvest resources and build structures while carrying the Infinity Blade. It promises to continue monitoring the Blade’s effectiveness after the changes and “make adjustments as necessary.”

It looks like my Cult of Mac colleague Killian’s endless hours spent feverishly Googling the word “Fortnite” like a battle royale-loving version of The Shining‘s Jack Torrance have paid off.
That’s because Google has released its annual “Year in Search” results, and it seems that the ultra popular Fortnite game is one of the year’s most sought-after topics.

Infinity Blade is back just days after being pulled from the App Store — but not as you might have expected. It’s now a crazy sword that can be found inside Fortnite Battle Royale.
The limited-time item was added in yesterday’s patch — the first since the introduction of season seven — and it gives a single player a huge advantage in each game. Unsurprisingly, it’s already causing chaos in competitive play.
