Grab your scarf and gloves because winter has arrived in Fortnite season seven.

The massive update brings big changes to the Battle Royale map, including zip lines that help you travel to and from high terrain. It also adds Stormwing planes, weapon and vehicle wraps, Creative Mode, and a brand new Battle Pass with more than 100 new rewards.

Fortnite players look forward to big changes every week, but the most significant ones arrive with the launch of a new season. Its seventh certainly doesn’t disappoint, with tweaks, improvements, and new additions for almost every aspect of the game.

Here’s what’s in store in version 7.0.

Take to the skies!

Season seven brings some of the most dramatic changes we’ve ever seen to the Battle Royale map. A large section of it has been covered in snow, and there are three new locations to explore: Frosty Flights, Polar Peak, and Happy Hamlet.

Rifts have finally gone from the game, but there are other ways to travel between these areas. You can either hop on a zip line, which can be found around the iceberg and near Expedition Outposts, or you can take to the skies in an X-4 Stormwing plane.

The Stormwing seats four passengers and a pilot, and it has a mounted machine gun that you can use to hose down enemies from above. The roll buttons will let you perform sharp turns, while the boost and airbrake give you greater control in the air.

Shadow Stones and Shockwave grenades have also been vaulted, but balloons remain in season seven — and they’re much more useful now. Players can finally use weapons and items while they’re floating around.

Build your own Fortnite in Creative Mode

Season seven also introduces the new Creative Mode, which lets players build their own islands from scratch. Use the new phone tool to edit, copy, and manipulate props in the world, and quickly fly by double-tapping the jump button to get around quickly.

Friends can visit your island to explore or to take part in custom matches, in which you decide the rules, spawn locations, weapon sets, and more. You can also specify who has permission to edit and build while they’re visiting your island.

Battle Pass buyers get access to islands first, and they’ll start out with four of them. The feature will then be opened up to all players on December 13.

Other changes and improvements

There are lots of other changes and improvements in this release. Here are some of the highlights:

  • 60 frames-per-second now available on 2018 iPad Pro lineup
  • Black border removed on 2018 iPad Pro lineup
  • New Explorer Pop-Up Cup tournament
  • Chiller, clinger, Port-a-Fort, and double-barrel shotgun vaulted
  • Updated crosshair on scoped assault rifle and thermal assault rifle

For the complete list of tweaks, check out the version 7.0 patch notes on the Fortnite blog. When you’re ready, you can download the update across all platforms and start playing right away.
