Buying an unlocked iPhone and using a prepaid plan can save you a lot of money over two years. Over $1000 in savings actually.  T-Mobile is the only major U.S. carrier that hasn’t landed a deal for the iPhone yet, but they’re not letting that stop them from getting new iPhone customers.

This week T-Mobile is pushing their new Unlimited & Unlocked campaign to get future iPhone 5 owners to buy an unlocked iPhone and bring it over to their network where they can save $1200 over two years versus AT&T.

After a lot of confusion and denials from the FBI and Apple, the real source of the 1 million hacked UDIDs that Anonymous leaked last week has finally been found, and aswas theorized last week, it was just an app publisher.

Blue Toad, an app publishing company in Florida, revealed to NBC News that they’re 100 percent confident that Anonymous hacked their databases and stole the UDIDs from them.

OS X Mountain Lion comes with 35 great wallpapers pre-installed, but what if that’s not enough to satisfy your computer’s cravings for more cosmic landscapes and jaw-dropping scenery straight out of National Geographics? Some of use need more. Like, at least 43 more.

Apple actually includes 43 incredible wallpapers with a 3200×2000 resolution that are hidden inside OS X Mountain Lion. They include stuff like scenery from National Geographics, nature patterns, and cosmic photos from the Hubble telescope. Finding the wallpapers and unlocking them is actually really easy too, here’s how to do it:

Yes, Amazon just released some beautiful new Kindles with HD screens and an ecosystem that could one day potentially rival Apple’s. Not only do the new Kindles look great, but they’re super cheap too, because Amazon wants to make money when you’re using their devices, not when you buy their devices.

If you take a look at the chart above you can see how completely different Amazon is from Apple. While Amazon is content to sell products now and make profit later, Apple makes big profits off of small devices now, and keeps customers coming back with an incredible ecosystem. Over the past couple of days, Apple’s been busy updating Yerba Buena and rehearsing their keynote deliveries in preparation for the iPhone 5 announcement. The iPhone 5 is a sure bet. We know it’s coming. You know it’s coming. But will Apple have any other goodies to show off at Wednesday’s keynote?

iTunes is terrible. I do my best and try to never ever ever open it up, even though I got about 150GB of music crammed in there. A new report from the Wall Street Journal though says that Apple is looking to fix iTunes and build their very own streaming service that works kind of like Pandora.

Apple has the most extensive digital music library on the planet, so it might be really cool. At the same time, I already have Rdio that I use every day, and Pandora doesn’t even let me choose which songs I get to listen to. So even though an iTunes streaming service sounds like a dream, I don’t know if I’d actually use it. But what do you guys think? Would you actually use an iTunes streaming service? Or would you stick with Spotify and Rdio?

Have you ever had to say that you’re terrible at something just so you can get some preferential treatment, even though you’re really not as bad as you claim? It’s silly, but sometimes it works.

That’s what happened to Samsung today. In order to not get their products banned from the Netherlands, Samsung had to tell the court today that their multitouch software is really terrible in comparison to Apple’s.

Over the past few years we’ve seen hundreds of fake iPhone mockups, some have been bizarre, while others looked so good we wished they were real. What’s been most surprising is that some of the weirdest looking concepts are actually fairly similar to prototypes Apple was working on in their labs.

Thanks to the evidence in the Apple vs Samsung trial, we got to see the different iPhone prototypes Apple was working on, so we’ve gone back and found 7 artists mockups that look a lot like prototypes Apple was working on. 

Amazon is the only other company in the world that has a great ecosystem that might be able to compete with Apple’s. The Kindle Fire was a cute little tablet, but it definitely wasn’t an iPad Killer or even an iPad Competitor, but Amazon is looking to change that with the Kindle Fire HD.

Amazon’s keynote has just gotten underway where CEO Jeff Bezos is unveiling some new Kindles. Before anything was revealed though, Bezos took a jab at other Android tablets and basically said they suck.

“Customers are smart. Last year, there were more than two dozen Android tablets launched into the marketplace, and nobody bought ’em. Why? Because they’re gadgets, and people don’t want gadgets anymore. They want services that improve over time. They want services that improve every day, every week, and every month.”

Whether you love her delicious looking meat dresses or not, there’s no denying that Lady Gaga is one of the biggest names in music right now with a bevy of singles that have launched her into superstardom.

Not one to rest on her laurels, Lady Gaga wants to do something new with her next album that she’s working on. Earlier today Lady Gaga revealed that her next Album, Artpop, won’t just be a couple of tracks burnt onto a cd, but it will be a “completely interactive” experience because she will be releasing it as an iPhone and iPad app.

First, AntiSec leaked a ton of iPhone and iPad UDIDs to the public, claiming they hacked them off an FBI laptop. The FBI responded and said there was no way the UDIDs came from them. Then Apple jumped in and said that they totally didn’t give anyone 12million UDIDs. But 12million UDIDs were still leaked and people are still wondering how the heck AntiSec got them.

A few theories have been bouncing around the web this morning, but the most plausible theory of how AntiSec got all the UDIDs is that a network of free apps were keeping track of UDIDs and AntiSec hacked them off the publisher’s laptop.

Apple’s stock price has continued to rise the last couple of weeks making it the most valuable company in the world, and debatably the most valuable company ever. Some might think that Apple can’t sustain those numbers over the long-term, but right now their prospects are looking great.

The scary thing – if you’re an Apple competitor – is that even though Apple is huge right now, it’s still growing. Fortune released their list of the 100 fastest-growing companies in the world today, and Apple came in at #8 while competitors like Google and Samsung didn’t even make the list.

We’ve seen a couple part leaks for the upcoming iPad Mini over the last few weeks, but a great shot of the casing for the iPad hasn’t been seen until now. A Chinese site that claims they have received the rear shell for the iPad Mini from an OEM in Shenzhen, China, has posted a series of photos that show some great details of what the iPad Mini will look like.

There were a few Hollywood celebrities on hand at the Democratic National Convention tonight – Jessica Alba, Eva Longoria, Will.i.Am, Ashley Judd, Bill Clinton, etc. One semi-famous person we weren’t expecting to see was Steve Jobs’s widow Laurene Powell Jobs, hanging out with Chelsea Clinton.

Let’s be honest, finding apps on the App Store sucks. There isn’t a great way to find new apps, other than looking at the top of the charts and seeing which apps are most popular. Even though Genius support is coming to the App Store in iOS 6, we’re not getting our hopes up that Apple will be able to fix app discovery on their first shot.

There are a couple websites out right now that focus on discovering new apps, but one of the more exciting startups right now is Ooomf, which offers a set of tools for both developers and app users, to find new apps or promote current content.

Yesterday, AntiSec leaked over 1million Apple UDIDs that they claim came from a FBI laptop they hacked. What was the FBI doing with all those UDIDs, and who gave them to them? Well the FBI says that they totally didn’t get hacked so it’s not their fault.

Apple has been quiet the entire time about the whole thing, until this morning when they released an official comment stating that they never gave the FBI anyone’s device IDs.

Even though her husband was known for being a visionary in the world of technology, Laurene Powell Jobs, widow of Apple co-founder and CEO, Steve Jobs, has always set out to make a difference in educational policy. Her next big assignment will be to serve a 5-year term on the Stanford University board of trustees.

The iPhone 5 is almost here, which means Apple is going to sell tens of millions of new iPhones this year. It might even be the biggest smartphone launch ever. But before Apple launches the new iPhone, Samsung can at least savor one small victory: The Samsung Galaxy S III outsold the iPhone 4S in August.

There are about fifty hundred billion apps in the App Store. Some of them are really amazing, while others are just shoddy ripoffs of other successful apps.

Getting an app removed from the App Store because it copies some key parts of your app has been a hassle for developers, but Apple just released a new tool that streamlines the process to dispute apps that may be guilty of copyright or trademark infringement.

President Obama is an Apple user through and through. He answers Reddit questions from a MacBook, got an early iPad from Steve Jobs himself, and Rush Limbaugh even thinks Obama hacked Siri just to mess with him.

But just because you’re the leader of the Free World doesn’t mean you’re not susceptible to AntiSec hacks too. The UDID for President Obama’s iPad may or may not have been among the more than 1 million UDIDs the AntiSec leaked this morning from the FBI’s databases.

Apple may have been awarded $1Billion in damages by the jury in their case against Samsung last month, but it will be awhile until Apple can start counting that cash. In fact, Apple might not even get the full $1Billion they were rewarded if Judge Koh changes the ruling.

Facebook integration for iOS 6 will be launching in a few weeks along side the iPhone 5, which is pretty cool because now you’ll be able to share photos, update your status, or even like songs without having to open up the crappy Facebook app.

The only drawback for iOS 6’s Facebook integration is that Facebook is using it to push their “@facebook.com” email addresses to everyone. What it means is that even though no one uses their @facebook.com address or know they exist, your address book is going to be infested with them.

As if a bunch of nerds running around shooting video and taking photos on their big iPads at shows wasn’t bad enough, now some goobers are using the FaceTime camera on their MacBook Air to take video at concerts.

Going through an entire concert without taking any pictures or videos is a better option than this. Put down the MacBook bro and just enjoy the rhythmic cascade of lyrics smashing against your eardrums.
