Apple Watch is a great swimming companion, offering highly accurate length counts, pace measurements and stroke recognition. But the benefits to swimmers donāt stop there.
Youāll find plenty more useful swim stats in the Fitness app on your iPhone. Strokes Per 25/50/100Ā is especially valuable because it tracks your swim efficiency, which is key if you want to go faster, further or just look more cool in the pool.
But the way Apple Watch counts your strokes is not as simple as it seems. Whether youāre a beginner or an expert swimmer, itās worth taking time out to understand exactly how it works.

Apple Watch Series 6 Photo: Leander Kahney/Cult of Mac
Almost all the reviews of the Apple Watch Series 6 say the same thing: Yeah, itās great, but itās an incremental upgrade, and if you already have a Series 5, skip the upgrade.
Thatās sage advice, I guess, especially in the middle of a crushing pandemic thatās ruined the economy, left millions unemployed, and has lots of people thinking carefully about their expenses.
But I say stuff it!
If you have the money, run out and buy the latest Apple Watch. Itās frickinā amazing! Zuck's comments sound like a shot at Apple's plans. Image: Jon Prosser/Front Page Tech
Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg took a low-key shot at Appleās AR plans in a new interview with The Verge, saying that heās not enthusiastic about āputting an Apple Watch on [his] face.ā
While Zuck was talking more broadly about augmented reality glasses, the fact that he called out Apple Watch (and the fact that Apple is the highest profile company reportedly working on AR glasses) makes it pretty clear which direction heās throwing his shade.
