This week the Directors Guild of America and the Producers Guild of America recognized Apple TV+ content with a pile of award nominations — five in the DGA Awards and four in the PGA Awards, both set to take place in March.
DGA Awards nominations for Ted Lasso, commercials
First, on Wednesday Apple TV+ racked up DGA nominations for five directors who helmed three Ted Lasso episodes and four commercials on the streaming service.
Notably, the hit comedy Ted Lasso netted three nominations for outstanding directorial achievement in comedy. Nominee MJ Delaney directed the episode “No Weddings and a Funeral.” Erica Dunton directed “Rainbow.” And Sam Jones directed “Beard After Hours.”
And Apple product commercials, two directors received nominations. Nominee Kathryn Bigelow directed the iPhone 13 Pro commercial about the handset’s phenomenal camera, “Hollywood in Your Pocket.” And nominee An Pons Jewell directed three Apple Watch commercials: “ECG,” “Sleep” and “Apple Watch.”
So to see who wins, look for the DGA Awards presentation, which takes place March 12.
