An adaptation of best-selling novel ‘Lady in the Lake’ is headed for Apple TV+
Lady in the Lake will star Academy Award winners Lupita Nyong’o and Natalie Portman.

Apple TV+ will adapt the New York Times best-selling novel Lady in the Lake to a series starring Natalie Portman and Lupita Nyong’o.

Apple says, “The limited series takes place in ’60s Baltimore, where an unsolved murder pushes housewife and mother Maddie Schwartz (Portman) to reinvent her life as an investigative journalist and sets her on a collision course with Cleo Sherwood (Nyong’o), a hard-working woman juggling motherhood, many jobs and a passionate commitment to advancing Baltimore’s Black progressive agenda.”

The script for Lady in the Lake will be co-written by Alma Har’el and Dre Ryan.

This will be the first TV show from Natalie Portman, as she’s made her career in film. She won an Oscar and a Golden Globe for starring in Black Swan, and also appeared in V for Vendetta, three Star Wars prequels, and much more.

Lupita Nyong’o might be best known for her role in Black Panther, but she won an Oscar for Twelve Years a Slave and was nominated for a Golden Globe for the same film.

There’s no word yet on when the Apple TV+ adaptation of Lady in the Lake will be available to stream.

Apple TV+ offers many woman-led shows

Apple’s streaming service already offers women-led series, like The Morning Show staring Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon, which is expected to begin its second season in 2021. The same goes for Truth Be Told starring Octavia Spencer

And there are plenty more in development. Physical, a dramedy starring Rose Byrne will premiere this summer. There’s also The Last Thing He Told Me starring Julia Roberts and Lessons in Chemistry starring Brie Larson. Plus, a star-studded collection of women will appear in Roar on Apple TV+.
