Julia Roberts is the latest star putting in an appearance on Apple TV+. She’ll reportedly take the lead in an adaptation of the mystery-thriller The Last Thing He Told Me.

Update November 12, 2021: Jennifer Garner has replaced Julia Roberts as the lead in this upcoming series.

The novel is by Laura Dave, and is set to be published by Simon & Schuster in May. It tells the story of Hannah Hall, who sets out to search for her missing husband as she tries to protect her sixteen-year-old step-daughter, who wants absolutely nothing to do with her. The publisher promises “dazzling plot twists and unforgettable characters.”

Even though the book version of The Last Thing He Told Me is months away from publication, Julia Roberts is already on board to star in a limited series based on it for Apple TV+, according to Deadline.

Roberts scarcely needs an introduction. She got her start in Pretty Woman (1990), and went on to garner four Academy Awards nominations, winning for Best Actress in Erin Brockovich (2000). The actress also racked up three Golden Globe Awards.

From a production company with strong ties to Apple TV+

This is reportedly a project from Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine production company. It already produces The Morning Show and Truth Be Told, which premiered on Apple’s streaming service in 2019. The two companies also teamed up for Surface and My Kind of Country, both of which were only recently announced.

There’s no projected premier date for The Last Thing He Told Me. When it’s available, watching will require a $4.99 a month subscription. However, Cupertino includes a one-year free subscription with the purchase of many Apple devices. And there are about 50 shows ands movies on the service now are coming soon, and dozens more in production.
