If you’ve been anxiously waiting to upgrade your Apple Watch to watchOS 2 today — well, sadly, you’re out of luck.

Despite announcing last week that watchOS 2 and iOS 9 would be released today, Apple has just dropped the bombshell that Apple Watch users won’t be upgrading their operating systems quite yet, thanks to the discovery of a critical bug.

The news was revealed by USA Today tech columnist Ed Baig in a tweet:

Apple also told TechCrunch in a statement: “We have discovered a bug in development of watchOS 2 that is taking a bit longer to fix than we expected. We will not release watchOS 2 today but will shortly.”

Since watchOS 2 was running perfectly fine as a Gold Master, it’s a bit surprising that Apple would discover a major bug at this stage in the development process. Still, given the disastrous iOS 8.0.1 launch, which bricked brand new iPhones last year, it’s best that they hold out on releasing watchOS 2 until everything is sorted.

Watch this space. Or some such pun about timekeeping.
