nflmobile

Football season is only a month away, so the NFL has completely rebuilt its NFL Mobile app for iOS and Android with a redesigned look that gives football fans quick access to breaking news, scores, and video highlights.

As part of the update, the NFL has folded in functionality from its Verizon-made app, which gives Verizon subscribers the ability to pay for premium features such as live streaming NFL games on Thursday, Sunday, and Monday nights and NFL RedZone on Sundays.

Canon’s Vixia Fisheye Camcorder Would Have Been Amazing… Five Years Ago

By

Poor Canon. When it comes to compact cameras, its heart is in the right place, but the market is shriveling so fast that sometimes it’s hard to see the point. Today’s example is the Vixia Mini camcorder, a video version of its quirky Powershot N. The Vixia Mini is a square box with a flip-out screen and a fisheye lens. And as a nod to smartphone users, it has Wi-Fi built in. But do we care?

Ashton Kutcher, who plays Steve Jobs in an upcoming biopic called JOBS, has revealed how he passed up the opportunity to meet “the Leonardo da Vinci of our generation” since months before he passed away because he had to work.

During an emotional interview on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Kutcher also speaks about how he felt after Jobs’s death, and how he took the Apple co-founder “for granted.”

VLC For iOS Is Coming Back To The App Store Tomorrow

By

vlcforiOS

VLC for iOS is making a return to the App Store after a licensing dispute got the popular video player pulled from the App Store over two years ago.

The visual appearance of the app has remained fairly consistent to the old version from 2010. The app was completely rewritten and is much faster thanks to modern output modules for audio and video, and offers multi-core decoding and support for any video files available in VLC media player for desktop operating systems.

You might not know the name, but you definitely know the work. If you have seen Star Wars, or Robocop, or Jurassic Park[1], you’ve seen Phil Tippet’s stop-motion (and go-motion) animation. Tauntaun? Tippet. ED–209? Tippet again.

And now you can buy 3-D character animations by the Tippett Creature Shop right inside a new storefront in the Efexio iPad app.

iOS 7 Glitch Makes Stock Apps Vanish [Video]

By

iOS-7-icons

Apple finally allows us to put the Newsstand icon in a folder in iOS 7, but wouldn’t it be great if we could completely hide all the built-in apps we don’t use? Thanks to a glitch in the latest iOS 7 beta, you can. After following a few simple steps, you can remove stock icons from your home screen so that they’re nowhere to be seen.

iFixit Walks Us Through An iPhone 5 Battery Replacement [Video]

By

iPhone-5-battery-replacement

Battery life on the iPhone 5 is pretty good when you compare it to other high-end devices with LTE connectivity, so if you’re having to charge yours more than normal, then you may need a new battery. But don’t worry — battery replacements are relatively cheap, and they’re so easy, you can probably do them yourself.

Teardown specialists iFixit show you how in a new five-minute walkthrough video.

This concept design shows what an iPhone phablet might look like.

I like smartphones with big displays, which is why I’m a fan of the Samsung Galaxy Note, so I’d certainly be in line for an iPhone “phablet” if Apple ever decided to release one. With rival smartphones getting bigger by the day, that seems like only a matter of time.

But how big could the iPhone go? A recent report claimed Apple has been considering iPhones with 4.7- and 5.7-inch displays, and the concept video below shows what the latter might look like.

See How The Amazing New Mac Pro Is Stamped From A Single Aluminum Puck [Video]

By

Remember the Unibody MacBook, so called because it was milled from a single chunk of aluminum? Now that most of Apple’s products are made that way, you never hear the term “Unibody” any more – it’s like cars: you only write “16-valve”, “ABS” or “fuel injection”on the back when you’re showing off something new.

It’s time, then, for a new construction method, and the new “trashcan” Mac Pro has one. It’s called Impact Extrusion, and it is super cool.

iOS 7’s Moving Background Is Even More Impressive With Panoramas [Video]

By

newdimensioniOS7

One of the neat new features of iOS 7 is that the background moves ever so slightly when you tilt your iPhone up and down. The effect makes it look like your pictures are nearly 3D, but if you want to really be impressed, set your iPhone homescreen picture as a panorama and spin around.

Jeff Shin discovered that if you take a panoramic photo and set it as your background, the image will move with you as you spin around. Here’s a video of the hidden feature:

Tim Cook Explains What It Takes To Be A Great Collaborator At Apple [Video]

Ever since Tim Cook ousted Scott Forstall last year, the Apple CEO has preached a lot about how collaboration within Apple is one of the most important aspects of the company’s culture.

This New iPhone 6 Concept Comes With A 4.8-Inch Display And 3D Camera [Video]

By

iphone6-concept

The iPhone 6 probably won’t be released until 2014, which means there’s still plenty of time for the rumor mill to churn out ridiculous specs and other ideas on what Apple might toss into the mix.

Today we’ve got a new iPhone 6 concept video that dreams of an iPhone with an edge-to-edge 4.8-inch curved display, along with an 8 megapixel 3D camera. We’ve yet to see 3D implementation in smartphones take off, which is probably a good thing. But if anyone could pull it off it’d be Apple right?

Check out the concept video below and tell us what you think:
