The newly minted "Apple fanboy" jokingly referred to the Apple ecosystem as a huge trap.

Ready to convert to Mac? I came across one user who scored a nice student deal on a MacBook Air, and soon found themself upgrading their whole outdated PC setup as a complete, highly functional and reasonably affordable Apple-ecosystem rig.

“I’m so so cooked … the Apple ecosystem is a huge trap!” they joked. “Don’t let one device get into your house.”

Redditor chevalierdepas showcased their new Apple-ecosystem upgrade in a post entitled, “Got a new MacBook Air. Ended up upgrading my whole setup and becoming an Apple fanboy …” As they explained, after they got a student deal on an M4 MacBook Air with 32GB RAM — plus AirPods Pro 3 for about $58! — they ended up making a wholesale upgrade from outdated tech.

“Instantly hooked, and I’m even using Apple Music now which feels like a throwback to my iPod touch days,” they said. “The sharp Retina display called for a higher level monitor and the LG UltraFine 27UP850K does an impressive job.”

Depas even tried to Magic Keyboard and Magic Mouse with their new rig, but Apple’s input devices didn’t work out for them. They found the ever-popular Logitech MX Keys S keyboard and MX Master 3S mouse “far superior.”

And even then, they weren’t done with their conversion.

“The iPad is a cheap 9th gen I got earlier this year as an entry into the tablet world and now I’m also fully convinced,” they said. “I can tell Apple Watch is next.”

And they took their setup photo above using an iPhone 15 Pro Max, noting that it’s still good enough to rule out a handset upgrade for now.
