Remember when Apple’s 2011 Worldwide Developer Conference sold out in under 12 hours? With the suspicion that the same thing could happen in 2012, developers Anthony Herron and Aaron Wardle have created a website called WWDC Alerts.
The simple site allows anyone to sign up to receive a SMS message when Apple makes tickets for the 2012 event available for purchase.
Many thanks to one of my other early inspirations (and now a friend), Gary Wolf of Wired and Quantified Self, for Tweeting it earlier tonight. Just astounding how much clarity Steve already had about what could and needed to be fixed in the tech industry. All of it and more has now come true. Though iCloud is only starting to match what Steve had with networked storage way back then.
Developers who weren’t able to attend this year’s WWDC can catch up with over 100 WWDC session videos, which are now available through Apple’s Dev Center.
Darren Murtha sent us this pic of his WWDC wristband — the one Apple hands out if you’re over 21 so you can drink at events.
Murtha, who makes cool apps for kids, thought the wristband that says “If found, return me to WWDC” funny, a bit like the note Paddington Bear has pinned to his jacket (“Please Look After This Bear.”)
Do you think Apple wants the wristband back if it gets separated from the wearer or if one finds a tipsy dev wandering around SF you should return him or her to Moscone Center?
Like cowboys hoping to brand its herd of cattle before rustlers move in, Apple has registered dozens of domains to protect products unveiled at this week’s WWDC.

I don’t know how many times I’ve seen a famous photographer say something like “it’s not your equipment, it’s how you use it”; but they love to trot out that phrase like a dog breeder trotting out a prize poodle. And of course, they’re right. In fact, one of the most important — if not the most important — feature is that the camera is actually around for you to take the shot with — or you’ll miss the moment. The second? That the damn thing doesn’t require much fumbling around with to operate.
The iPhone has never had any problem with the first one. And today, bam — Apple has just taken care of the second. In fact, the camera tweaks in iOS 5 should make the iPhone the most-used camera ever. Here’re the much-needed improvements, in order of grooviness.

Definitely a major bag of goodies announced by Apple at WWDC today, but one item many expected further info on was not discussed: the ability to finally print from an iPad or iPhone using AirPrint and your existing printer shared by your Mac. A bit surprising that this important feature is still missing in action.
