You can shoot studio portraits anywhere. Photo: Apple
Whenever I open up the For You tab in the Photos app, every single “effect suggestion” is Brighten this Portrait Photo with Studio Lighting. Every single one. I’m not even exaggerating. And I’m never interested, because Studio Lighting, along with all the other Portrait Lighting effects, is junk. Now, though, with iOS 13’s new High-Key Light Mono effect, there’s at least one Portrait Lighting effect worth using.
Here’s why High-Key Mono looks great — and how to use it.

An overlooked feature of the iPhone 11 series is Wi-Fi 6, a faster version of this nearly ubiquitous short-range wireless-networking standard.
And it’s not just about speed. This update is expected to offer better performance when dozens of hundreds of devices are all trying to connect to Wi-Fi at once.

In a world where our phones are also video calling devices, multimedia viewers and more, having your iPhone lying flat on your desk isn’t always optimal. That’s where a new “invisible” stand created by Moft X comes into play.
Living up to the mantra that truly great design is invisible, its new portable stand allows users to prop up their iPhone at a 60 degree angle. All without a bulky smartphone stand being required. Check it out.

If you’re planning to upgrade to Apple Watch Series 5, you might have thought about selling old model back to Apple. But that’s a terrible idea.
Apple will offer you just a fraction of what your old Apple Watch is really worth. It pays a maximum of $110 for Series 4 units introduced just a year ago, and only $70 for a Series 3.
Make a lot more cash by selling your Watch to Cult of Mac instead. You’ll find your shiny new upgrade ends up being a lot cheaper than you expected.

Apple’s Carpool Karaoke: The Series just won an Emmy for the second year running. The show won a Creative Arts Emmy award in the “Short form variety series” category in an award handed out over the weekend.
While plenty of people forget about Carpool Karaoke when talking about Apple’s original TV shows, that’s a good omen at a time it’s gearing up to launch its Apple TV+ streaming service.
Apple and Goldman Sachs disagree over Apple TV+ accounting. Photo: Pexels
Apple partnered with Goldman Sachs to launch Apple Card. But that doesn’t guarantee that the two entities will always see eye-to-eye.
Late last week, Goldman Sachs cut its price target on Apple shares to $165. That gives it the lowest expectations for Apple of all major Wall Street banks. Following the news, Apple hit back at its partner, arguing that its claims were ill-founded.

One of iPhone 11’s hottest camera features is also making its way to older devices.
The ability to record from multiple cameras simultaneously will be available on iPhone XR, iPhone XS and XS Max, and the 2018 iPad Pro when iOS 13 rolls out to everyone later this week.
Apple has a fight on its hands this week as it goes to court to battle the world’s biggest tax case. The company will protest its 2016 European Union tax bill of 13 billion euros ($14.4 billion).
The EU charged Apple the money after saying it had an unfair tax arrangement with Ireland. Apple has always protested its innocence. This week, a court will start the process of deciding whether the regulators were right.
Think twice about buying the new 10.2-inch iPad if you’re a frequent Microsoft Office user.
Microsoft’s rather strange policy on tablet use will almost certainly mean you’ll lose out on free Office access if you upgrade to Apple’s newest slate. And a subscription will cost you $9.99 a month.
