Just weeks after iOS 9’s launch, Chinese jailbreak team Pangu has released the world’s first untethered jailbreak for Apple’s new mobile operating system.
The jailbreak, which covers iOS 9 through iOS 9.0.2 for all compatible Apple devices, is available for free, although OS X users will have to wait since there’s only a Windows installer available.
Mac support will no doubt follow in the future, but no date has yet been announced.
While we can confirm that the jailbreak does indeed work, users should show caution when using any jailbreak.
Pangu advises users to backup their data via iTunes. The Chinese jailbreaking team also recommend switching devices to Airplane Mode and disabling “Find my iPhone” and password functions in system settings to improve the jailbreak’s “success rate.”
Pangu Team has become one of the main jailbreak players over the past several years. In the cat-and-mouse game Apple plays with the jailbreak community, Cupertino has even taken to (perhaps slightly mockingly) publicly acknowledging Pangu when fixing vulnerabilities in versions of iOS.

Unlike dem trustworthy anonymous ‘Murican jailbreakers huh?
Utterly ignorant remark. You obviously have no experience with jailbreaking, and worse, somehow imagine that all Chinese people are involved in nefarious activities. Especially specious considering your avatar is that of an Asian anime character. Guess •you• can’t be trusted, huh?
Your point 1: I don’t need to prove anything. Your remark is specious, and the 100,000-plus jail breakers on reddit alone will prove that. Your paranoia suggests watching a bit too much FOX news.
Your point 2: Very, very doubtful
Your point 3: Senseless drivel
Your point 4: Having lived in both countries, I •think• I know the difference. In any case, neither country has entire populations ready to pounce into your precious device.
Your point 5: More meaningless word-smithed drivel. As for doublethink, you obviously *do* know, having apparently written the book.
Better keep Airplane mode on all the time, and change your passwords every few minutes. They’re coming to get you!
The last few generations of publicly available jailbreaks have only been delivered by Chinese groups TAIG & Pangu. These are well documented, highly popular, and personally 100% successful without issues, assuming you can follow directions. There are no other other choices lately, so despite your early record, clearly you;e been out of the game in recent years.
