Queen Elizabeth II doesn’t tweet a whole lot, but when she does, it’s from an iPad. Her majesty used the device to thank the public for the “digital messages of goodwill” that were received for her 90th birthday.
“I am most grateful for the many digital messages of goodwill I have received and would like to thank you all for your kindness,” the tweet read. It’s just the second time the Queen has used Twitter since the official @RoyalFamily account was set up two years ago.
Elizabeth II’s first tweet, posted October 2014 from the London Science Museum, celebrated the launch of a new exhibition on the Information Age. It’s unclear if she has been quietly surfing Twitter in the meantime when things go quiet in the palace.
The Queen’s actual birth date is April 21, but her “official birthday” — the day celebrated publicly in the United Kingdom — is the second Saturday of June. To prove the tweet above was posted by Elizabeth II herself, it was accompanied by the photo above.

The official Royal Family account, which has 2.36 million followers, follows just 463 users. Some of those include the Royal Artillery, the Tower of London, RAF Air Cadets, British astronaut Tim Peake, and President Obama.
