The wait for the Satechi Mac mini M4 Stand & Hub with SSD Enclosure isn’t as long as expected. The accessory — which adds front-facing ports and more storage — can be ordered now, though quantities are limited.

It seems a nice addition for Apple’s tiny new desktop. It even makes pressing the computer’s hidden power button easier.

Take the M4 Mac mini to the max with new Satechi stand and hub

Sure, the Mac mini M4 comes with an array of ports, but more are always better. Plus, most of them are on the back. That requires reaching around to plug in a thumb drive or maybe a camera. Additional ports we can easily reach would be welcome.

That’s why the front of the Satechi Mac Mini M4 Stand & Hub with SSD Enclosure includes a trio of USB-A ports. Two support USB 3.2 for transfers up to 10Gbps; the third uses USB 2.0. There’s also an SD card reader for transfers up to 312MB/s.

On the inside, an SSD enclosure supports up to 4TB of NVMe storage. It gives you a simple way to expand the storage capacity of the Mac or store Time Machine backups.

Designed to match the mini Mac

The hub fits exactly under the redesigned M4 Mac mini; the exterior edges are aluminum to match the look of the desktop.

The odd placement of the Mac mini power button on the bottom of the tiny desktop stoked controversy when Apple released the redesigned computer. Satechi’s new stand sits below the Mac mini and includes a cutout so users can easily reach the power button.

In addition, the hub features bottom heat-dissipating vents and a recessed top area to improve cooling of the computer.

Available now

The Satechi Mac Mini M4 Stand & Hub with SSD Enclosure wasn’t scheduled to launch until later this month, but (surprise!) it hit store shelves today. It costs $99.99.

That said, Satechi only made limited quantities available now. After those run out, interested buyers can put in a preorder. However, those won’t ship until March.
