The new MacBook Pro isn’t even in our sweaty palms yet, and already it’s not only broken Apple’s previous pro notebook records, but also generated more revenue than any other notebook released in 2016.
In data released by research firm Slice Analytics, the MacBook Pro has already almost quadrupled the sales the Microsoft Surface Book racked up over the past year — as well as generating 78 percent of the revenue the 12-inch MacBook has generated since April 10, 2015.

While Apple has yet to release sales figures for the new MacBook Pro, earlier this week we heard that Apple has reportedly boosted supply chain orders for its new laptops after “not initially [being] very aggressive.”
Although a vocal minority of users have been complaining about the new MacBook Pro’s giant price tag and lack of innovation, it seems that this sentiment has certainly not swayed the majority of customers.

Obviously it’s the worst MacBook Pro in Apple history.
Obviously it’s the BEST MacBook Pro in Apple history.
Obviously you’re BOTH right.
1 year have passed since I finally left my old work and it changed my life… I started working on-line, for this company I discovered online, for a few hours a day, and my income now is much bigger then it was on my last job… Payment i got for last month was for $9000… Great thing about this job is the more time i got to spend with my family… KORTA.NU/MDe
It is the worst macbook in Apple Story, buuuuuuuuut: Still much better than any other !
I will buy this worst macbook on next week cuz my current MBA is very old.
I am super amped to get ahold of my new MacBook! Granted, if it doesn’t appeal to my workflow I might return it, but considering Apple’s track record, the chances of that happening are pretty slim.
But, but . . . all the experts, or the people who talk as if they’re experts, were saying that the buying public will find the new MacBook Pro to be anywhere from unimpressive to disappointing.
general public? Maybe will just see it as overpriced at worst. More savvy public (not tech people though) will be like, where the hell is the card reader? OMG There’s no USB ports. Techier folks will be harsher.
I’m so excited, I won’t be buying one.
Wait wait, must find my pen…
So, I am taking notes….say again?
Well, they raised the price considerably, so even with flat sales that would assure that this new model would generate more revenue than others and previous models in 2016. I think it’s an attractive purchase option, although I do think removing the Mag-Safe connector was a very bad decision. Maybe the Mag-Safe can’t transmit USB-C-compatible signals, but the Mag-Safe is perhaps the single best innovation Apple ever produced and to remove it is completely silly imho.
what are the markup margins on this 2016 vs 2015 mbp?
Not surprised really. It’s the best thing ever made. Let me say that again, It’s the best thing Apple has ever made.
Who am I kidding? Maybe sales are up because there are like thousands of customers of old Macbooks who were waiting to upgrade to a major refresh? So yeh that’s why there’s so many buyer.
Personally, I was hoping to upgrade but everything became a joke so I’m sticking wit my 2013 rMBP (specced out) and hopefully be able to grab a 2015 specced out rMBP from a local retailer if it comes back in stock.
Otherwise I’ll wait for something with different shaped holes around the sides.
