An astonishing 76 percent of new smartphone sales in Japan for the month of October were either iPhone 5s or 5c handsets, according to recent data.

The report comes from a Kantar World Panel, and demonstrates just how far Apple’s share of the Japanese smartphone market has increased over the present quarter.

Apple captured a reported 14 percent in the months of July and August, rising to a (then) record-breaking 34 percent in September, and then more than doubling last month.

The principle explanation is Apple’s deal with NTT DoCoMo, Japan’s largest carrier, which represented 61 percent of new smartphones for the month of October.

This makes Apple’s impending deal with China Mobile an interesting one to follow.

Wow. Total victory. There is no other way to describe it. For folks who hung on through the combined manipulators’ assault on AAPL, vindication (moral and pecuniary) is just around the corner.
