Buying the iPhone 7 Plus might not be as big an upgrade as some Apple fans were hoping for this fall.

Apple has allegedly decided to scrap plans to include a dual-lens camera sensor on the back of the iPhone 7 Plus, according to the latest rumor from China that claims the tech isn’t quite ready.

The Apple rumor mill has been spitting out reports all year that the biggest feature of the Plus-size iPhone will be the addition of a dual-lens camera that brings stellar low-light performance and other tricks to take iPhone photos one step closer to DSLR quality. However, a recent post on Chinese microblogging site Weibo claims the feature won’t make the cut.

Citing sources at Foxconn, Weibo user Old Yao claims staffers were told recently that the dual-lens camera technology is still too immature to include.

Considering the plethora of dual-lens leaks that have sprung up in the last few months, including some production molds and early cases, we recommend taking this rumor with a giant grain of salt.

The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus will likely be unveiled in September. Other new iPhone 7 features are expected to include a simplified rear shell design, no headphone jack, improved speakers, a faster processor and maybe even a Smart Connector.

So far, iPhone 7 is shaping up to be the worst iPhone release in Apple’s history.

So say we all… Based on rumor and speculation. Lol! Such is life in the age of the Internet.

Agreed – this is a rumor of a cancellation of another rumor. While it’s fun to speculate, you have to treat EVERY rumor you hear with a grain of salt. Too many people get upset when a final product doesn’t have a rumored feature (which may have been completely made up).

I would also question why anybody that works for Foxconn is being told WHY Apple is or is not doing something.

What would make it worth it for you? Marti McFly hoverboard capabilities? get a 800$ samsung s6 instead, that one is for sure the less disappointing ever release in smartphones history.

Come on, Buster. I realize people make mistakes, but, it’s the headline. Re-read the headline. How is anyone supposed to take you serious?

We’ll just have to wait until September. Until then, we’ll have contradicting rumors over and over again.

  4. Raymond Chuang says:

One possibility is that Apple will offer a larger-lens single-sensor rear camera with real optical image stabilization–essentially the iPhone 6S Plus’ rear camera sensor but with a larger lens.

  5. NoNonsense74 says:

so with dual lens gone, is there any change other than the possible blue color ? lol!

  6. Taylor says:

It was good year to go get the 6S Plus and skip the 7. #winning

  7. Richard Ludwig says:

Given Apple’s history, I wouldn’t be surprised if some of these things are departmental to determine where the leaks are coming from. “Oh, I see the cancellation of the duel lens rumor got out – the leaks are coming from THIS department!”
