Those eager to get their hands on one of the upcoming iPhone 17 models should mark their calendars. Information supposedly leaking out of a German wireless carrier indicates Apple’s next-generation smartphones will launch during a fall product-launch event on September 8.
No matter whether this leak is legitimate or not, just using Apple’s previous habits to estimate the iPhone 17 launch day turns up September 8 as a very likely possibility.
Apple fall 2025 launch event tipped for September 8
It’s a very safe bet that Apple will launch the iPhone 17 series in September. The new flagship iOS models come out every September. Customers, investors and everyone else expect it to be no different in 2025. And the announcement always comes during a fall product launch event. The only real question is, what exact day?
The answer is reportedly September 8. That’s the iPhone 17 launch date noted in internal documentation from a German wireless carrier provided to iphone-ticker.de.
And there’s more. The same source indicates that Apple will begin taking preorders for the models in the iPhone 17 series on Friday, September 12. And the new handsets reportedly will begin reaching customers’ hands on Friday, September 19.
Guessing the iPhone 17 launch day
Apple traditionally unveils its new flagship smartphones on the Tuesday of the second or third week of September. The one for the iPhone 16 series came on Tuesday, September 9, 2024. The iPhone 15 lineup popped up on Tuesday, September 12, 2023. The big announcement for the iPhone 14 series came on Tuesday, September 7, 2022. The year before, the big event fell on Tuesday, September 14, 2021.
That makes a Tuesday, September 8 launch for the iPhone 17 a reasonable guess.
What we know about the iPhone 17 series before the launch
As much as Apple tries to keep the wraps on the details of its products before they launch, a fairly complete picture of the iPhone 17 series already leaked out. In addition to the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max, plus the iPhone 17 itself, a highlight reportedly will be the iPhone 17 Air, the first in a new super-slim product line.
And the two Pro models are supposedly in for a bit of a redesign, with the camera hump expanding into a camera bar. That could make room in the Pro Max models for three 48MP sensors.
To pay for tariffs imposed by the Trump administration, the price of some of the iPhone 17 models might go up.
All of this is, of course, unconfirmed. We won’t know the full specs until the actual iPhone 17 launch day.
