Google is planning to replace its beloved Nexus smartphones with new devices that will fall into the Pixel brand. They’ll get their official unveiling on October 4, but new photos that have leaked out early suggest they look just like iPhone clones.

Google has reportedly been planning high-end Android devices that can go head-to-head with the iPhone for some time. Not only are they expected to offer cutting-edge specifications and features, but also fancy designs made from premium materials.

HTC has been tasked with building the first Pixel smartphones, which are expected to come in 5- and 5.5-inch variants. Leaked images of the new handsets reveal they look a lot like the HTC One A9, which is probably the closest you’ll get to an iPhone that runs Android.

Just like Apple’s latest smartphones, Google’s Pixel handsets appear to have metal unibodies with rounded edges, and 2.5D curved glass. They won’t have physical Home buttons like the iPhone — Google doesn’t like those — but they will have fingerprint scanners on their backs.

In addition to the pictures above, the new Pixel phones can be seen in the leaked Nest commercial below. Watch closely around the 9-second mark.

Google today confirmed an event for October 4, which is when the Pixel lineup is expected to be made official. According to recent rumors, they’ll be powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 820 processor, 4GB of RAM, and Android 7.0 Nougat.

Can’t think of anything more fitting to go with a copycat OS than copycat hardware.

Copy cat os and hardware lol, you sheeps think that you came up with that hardware, I remember a time when apple copied htc hardware…Google has the much more advanced os and now some great hardware to match, and it looks way better than an iPhone with that ugly camera bump

Android implemented most of the features before iOS. Notifications, Widgets, App Store, multitasking, low power mode (and these are just ones on the top of my mind). iOS is has mostly a better OS implementation than Android, faster and cleaner, but iOS is the one that copied over most of the features. Do research before you speak.

Have you ever seen how was Android OS on the pre-iPhone era? It was a Blackberry knock-off and then ‘something happened’ which caused Android to change to the OS we have now. What could it be? Oh yeah… iPhone OS, the grandaddy of the mobile OS we have now. Do your research as well!

I really don’t care about the same features in different OS, we have had those since the PC era but the hardware… Even Samsung can differentiate from the iPhone now on features and style but hey “Don’t be evil”

PC era? LOL. Are pc’s done now or something?

No ugly physical button and fingerprint sensor on back and no ugly camera hump. You’re right. Looks exactly like an iPhone. Sadly article is partly right. It will be as expensive as an iPhone. So yes…Google is copying apples over inflated prices.
