From magnetic chargers to levitating ones, one thing we’ve learned in 2016 it’s that apparently nobody likes to just plug their iPhone in and charge it regularly.
If that includes your good self, you may be interested in a new ultra-luxury Lightning Dock, released by Los Angeles-based premium technology products maker, Brikk.
Available in 24k gold yellow gold, 18k rose gold, and 950 platinum, the docks will make any visitors to your house say, “wow, that guy/girl sure has an expensive-looking iPhone dock.”
To be fair, the iPhone docks aren’t actually all that expensive. Granted, at $495, they’re not cheap — and throwing away close to $500 next time Apple decides to change its charger doesn’t sound fun — but they’re not the crazy four-figure+ sum my uneducated non-gold-buying self thought they’d be.
Better still, Brikk promises that 7 percent of the sales price of each Lux iPhone Dock is given to the charity of a client’s choosing after purchase. This, apparently, is a “luxury tax” that Brikk is keen to promote as its “key philosophy.”
Brikk isn’t the only company to gold-plate Apple products for an audience one imagines is made up primarily of rappers and James Bond villains. Others who deal in the same business include the likes of Gold & Co, whose work we previously profiled, and luxury jewelry house Perla Penna, whose custom gold iPhones regularly pay tribute to Vladimir Putin.
