Months before its rumored release, a YouTube video gives us a possible first look at the iPhone 17 Air. The super-slim iPhone seemingly will feature flat sides with rounded corners and a horizontal camera island at the top with a single lens. With its new design and camera setup, recording on iPhone could see significant improvements, making the iPhone 17 lineup a game-changer in mobile videography.

The iPhone 17 Air renders come from FPT, run by a famous iPhone leaker with a mixed track record, Jon Prosser.

Apple’s super-slim iPhone could look like this

Multiple reports predict Apple will replace the iPhone Plus model with the iPhone 17 Air this year. The slender smartphone purportedly will feature a 5.5mm slim waistline, though the thin design would necessitate several compromises. Recent leaks even include a drawing of a camera that showcases potential changes in its form factor. (See how the camera design might evolve.)

On Monday, leaker Jon Prosser shared some iPhone 17 Air renders, based on pretty much the final design, on his FPT YouTube channel. The images show a sleek iPhone with flat sides and rounded edges. The device is so slim that the “USBC port isn’t / can’t be centered on the Y-axis,” Prosser wrote on X. “The port is closer to the back of the phone than it is the front.”

Interestingly, the device might feature a horizontal camera bar at the top, similar to Google’s Pixel lineup. But despite running across the phone horizontally, it supposedly will house only one camera, with the microphone and LED flash on the other end of the bar. Previous reports suggest the iPhone 17 Air will pack a single 48MP rear camera.

Apple purportedly will follow the same design language on the iPhone 17 Pro lineup. The horizontal camera bar will be larger on the Pro models, though, to accommodate three camera sensors.

iPhone 17 Air will stand out for more than its slim design

While initial rumors suggested a $1,300-plus price tag, the iPhone 17 Air could be much cheaper. The latest leaks point to an MSRP of $899, making the phone $100 cheaper than the Pro model. The slim iPhone also will stand out for using Apple’s in-house Wi-Fi and Bluetooth chip, replacing longtime partner Broadcom.

Last month, Prosser said the iOS 19’s Camera app would receive a visionOS-inspired revamp. This will give it a sleeker and more modern look.
