Brilliant lock screen shows how to recover your lost iPhone like a boss

Who says a lock screen can't be laugh-out-loud funny?

Through the creation of its Find my iPhone feature, Apple has made it much easier to recover handsets when we misplace them.

However, one amusing iPhone owner decided to go one step further to ensure that he would be reunited with his iPhone should it stray from his hands during a night of drunken merriment — adding an hilarious iPhone lock screen message.

Instead of including a photo as his background, the unnamed user’s iPhone features a message reading, “Oh no! I got drunk and lost my iPhone! Please call the number on the screen to return it! It’s my mom so you have to make up a crazy story as to why you have it.”

As you might expect, the message received equally funny responses when it was posted on Reddit by a user who claims they found the handset (appropriately enough) in a bar.

One other Redditor, DontReadThis, suggested the finder should send a message to the owner’s mom as suggested, but advised that it read: “We have your child. Leave $10,000 in unmarked, non sequential bills in a locker at the train station. Leave the key under the trashcan near the elevator.”

In the event, the iPhone was handed in to bar staff, who presumably returned it to the handset’s rightful owner.

You know what’s hilarious? That iPhones do not have an owner info button on the iPhone lockscreen. Something that other phones had over 10 years ago.

It’s almost like Apple doesn’t want you to get your phone back so you have to buy another one.

Well…if you choose to set up the emergency info your name, and info you choose to show, are available from the lock screen.

That said I would like a clearer way to do this as I have set up a Google voice number and set a “If found…” On the pic I use for my lock screen. There are also a number of apps that do this for you which I’m sure is easier than my manual method.

Yeah, I have that set up but no one else does and it’s not it’s intended purpose of returning lost phones to their owners.

If Siri is set to work from the lock screen, anyone can ask Siri “Whose phone is this?” Siri will then show the Contacts card of the person who owns the iPhone.

Cell companies all make billions with a giant B On lost and stolen phones that’s why it’s not easy to reunite you with your phone.

If someone knowing steals your phone they now have more info too. Its a double edged sword.
