Apple has launched a new Facebook page to promote its Beats 1 worldwide radio station, which broadcasts 24 hours a day, 7 days a week exclusively on Apple Music.

The page features small sharable video clips of Beats 1 action, currently including snippets from Zane Lowe’s interview with Lady Gaga. Oh, and a whole lot of hashtags, too.

Despite its human-centric approach to music helping separate it from rival streaming services, Apple Music hasn’t done too much to promote Beats 1 for much of its lifespan. Recently, however, it has received something of a renewed marketing push — with the new Facebook page and a video tour of Apple Music, which includes Beats 1.

It also reflects a growing social media presence on Apple’s part. Recently the company finally got around to activating an official @Apple Twitter account, which it first registered way back in September 2011 but had not tweeted from. The company has also launched an @AppleSupport account to help answer user queries.

Back in 2013, Apple additionally opened its first ever Tumblr page, while Tim Cook has opened a Baidu account as part of Apple’s push into China.

Interestingly, Apple was the first major tech company to give a regular paycheck to Facebook. Way back in December 2004, when it was still called Thefacebook, Apple agreed to pay the startup $1 per month for every user who joined Apple’s official page — with a minimum spend of $50,000 per month. In doing so, it immediately covered all of Facebook’s expenses.

Despite being so quick to jump on the Facebook bandwagon, however, Apple’s support of the network has been somewhat sporadic in the years since — as the arrival of an official Beats 1 page well over a year after the service first launched makes abundantly clear.
