Apple is ramping up its social media efforts today with the creation of the company’s first ever Tumblr page dedicated to the top iTunes picks for music, movies, TV shows and books in 2014.
With iTunes sales slumping for the second straight year, Apple is adding more ‘social’ to its marketing plan with a Tumblr page that allows viewers to like and share their favorite GIFS, pictures and videos that Apple created to promote its favorite artists of 2014.
The iTunes Tumblr layout is similar to the album art view with direct links to iTunes spattered throughout. Apple’s even upping its GIF game by including some funny GIFs of Stephen Colbert weeping and Silicon Valley’s Erlich Bachman disrobing himself.
Apple tested the waters of Tumblr last year with some exclusive iPhone 5c adds for the blogging social network that’s popular with the elusive millennial crowd marketers have been lusting after. An Instagram account for iTunes was also created on December 10th to promote the iTunes top picks as well.
