Beloved indie RPG To The Moon has just arrived on iOS in a stunning HD, remastered version from Ragnarok Online devs XD Network.

Originally released on Steam way back in 2011, the beautifully heartwarming game tells the story of two doctors who travel back through a dying man’s memories to help fulfill his final wish — and discover why he made the wish he did.

Check out the trailer below.

Giving away too many details about To The Moon is spoiling things, since this really is a game that you want to play through with the minimum of preconceptions.

For a sense of what it’s like, though, picture a 16-bit 2D RPG, similar to Dragon Quest or Final Fantasy, minus the battle scenes or inventory gathering. Instead, you get plenty of puzzle solving and a poignant, incredibly charming plot it’s virtually impossible not to fall in love with.

The original game boasted retro-style pixel art graphics. However, for the mobile remake developers XD Network have given it more of a painterly quality, which adds to the overall effect.

You can download To The Moon for $4.99 from the App Store. It will run on any iOS device capable of running iOS 7.0 or later, although I’d recommend an iPad for the full effect. Highly recommended!

  1. I resign working hard at shopritte and at the present I am making $75-97$ p/hour. How? I’m working online! My employment didn’t actually make me happy hence I made the decision to take an opportunity on something new…after 4 years it wasn’t simple to resign my day job however right now I couldn’t be more delighted.>>> S.ID/3Bm
