Apple is pushing an AppleCare+ price increase, with Mac and iPad owners footing the bill. Sign up for coverage on a new Mac or iPad today, and you’ll pay 50 cents more per month than you would have last week.
The change just went into effect and only affects new AppleCare+ enrollments. If you’re already subscribed, you’ll keep your current rate for now. But Apple hasn’t clarified how long that will last. It’s a small bump, but lands just weeks after Apple hiked hardware prices.
AppleCare+ price increase breakdown by device
AppleCare+ is Apple’s extended warranty and accidental damage protection plan for its devices. In addition to extending the standard hardware warranty, it provides unlimited repairs for accidental damage — subject to a service fee, of course — as well as priority access to Apple Support.
Customers can pay for AppleCare+ upfront as a fixed-term plan or subscribe on a monthly or annual basis for continued coverage, making it a popular option for owners who want protection against costly repairs after the standard one-year warranty expires.
After this week’s price hike, here’s what new AppleCare+ customers will pay:
Mac:
- Mac mini: $4.49/month or $44.99/year
- iMac: $6.99/month or $69.99/year
- MacBook Neo: $5.99/month or $59.99/year
- 13-inch MacBook Air: $7.99/month or $79.99/year
- 15-inch MacBook Air: $8.99/month or $89.99/year
- 14-inch MacBook Pro: $10.99/month or $109.99/year
- 16-inch MacBook Pro: $15.99/month or $159.99/year
- Mac Studio: $6.99/month or $69.99/year
- Mac Pro: $18.49/month or $184.99/year
iPad:
- iPad: $5.99/month or $59.99/year
- 11-inch M4 iPad Air: $6.99/month or $69.99/year
- M5 iPad Pro: $10.99 or $11.99/month or $109.99 or $119.99/year (depending on size)
Every one of these numbers is 50 cents higher per month or $5 per year than last week.
What isn’t changing
Not everything’s getting more expensive. AppleCare+ for iPhone and Apple Watch is untouched for now.
And AppleCare One, the company’s bundle plan for covering multiple devices under one subscription, also remains unaffected. That still starts at $19.99 a month for three products, with the option to add more products at $5.99 per month.
Apple had previously raised iPhone AppleCare+ price by 50 cents back in early 2025, so it wouldn’t be surprising if it does the same around the iPhone 18 series launch this September.
Why is this happening now?
These AppleCare+ price hikes don’t happen in a vacuum. Just three weeks ago, Apple raised the starting price on 14 of its products, which included nearly every Mac and iPad, plus Apple TV, HomePod, HomePod mini, and Vision Pro — with increases ranging from $30 to $1,300.
Fifty cents a month on AppleCare+ won’t break anyone’s budget. But pair this with everything else that’s gotten pricier, and it’s a sign that Apple’s costs are climbing — and customers are the ones absorbing it.
