Your Apple Watch might be free from ads after all

Remember when just a couple days ago, mobile marketing firm TapSense said at CES they would release a service for the Apple Watch that allowed developers to push ads to your wrist?

Well, it turns out it’s not as bad as all that. Yes, you’ll probably have ads on the Apple Watch in one way or another. But they’ll be super limited.

One day after its CES unveiling, TapSense has clarified its initial blog announcement, specifying that their service would not be able to integrate its service with Apple Pay, or inject ads into watchfaces.

In fact, TapSense has since admitted that they aren’t entirely sure the service will fly at all.

“Both Apple’s WatchKit SDK and the TapSense SDK are in Beta and APIs are subject to change,” TapSense has said. “As and when Apple makes the WatchKit guidelines available, we will review it carefully to ensure our SDK is both in compliance and approved by Apple.”

In other words? While TapSense might love to make the Apple Watch experience miserable for customers, they realize Apple probably won’t let them.

Anyone else think TapSense might just be trying to use the Apple Watch to get some attention, instead of launch a legitimately useful product? It’s starting to feel that way.
