Apple TV scores 5 Peabody Award nominations
The Peabody Awards honor excellence in TV, radio and online media storytelling that reflects social issues and emerging voices. They’re some of the most prestigious recognition in media. This latest wave of nominations underscores Apple TV‘s growing reputation as a destination for quality content across genres.
Winners get their due honors on April 23, with a ceremony to follow on May 31 at the Beverly Wilshire in Beverly Hills.
The nominated titles
Pluribus, Apple TV’s most-watched drama and a Golden Globe Award winner, picked up a nomination in the Entertainment category. The genre-bending series follows the most miserable person on Earth tasked with saving the world from a contagion of hive-mind happiness.
Three titles landed nominations in the Documentary category:
- Come See Me in the Good Light, an Academy Award nominee, is a poignant yet funny love story about poets Andrea Gibson and Megan Falley. They navigated an incurable cancer diagnosis together — turning mortality into a celebration of resilience and partnership.
- Mr. Scorsese, winner of both the Critics Choice Award and the DGA Award, is a sweeping portrait of filmmaker Martin Scorsese directed by Rebecca Miller. It draws on exclusive access to Scorsese’s private archives and interviews with collaborators including Robert De Niro, Leonardo DiCaprio and Steven Spielberg. The series traces how his life and obsessions shaped one of cinema’s most distinctive bodies of work.
- Rounding out the documentary nominations is Vietnam: The War That Changed America. The BAFTA Award nominee narrated by Ethan Hawke draws on first-person accounts and rarely seen footage to tell the story of one of history’s longest wars.
In the Children’s/Youth category, Shape Island — a Children’s and Family Emmy Award winner — earned a nomination. It offers warmhearted storytelling about three best friends navigating adventure and each other’s differences. The series is based on much-loved books by Mac Barnett and Jon Klassen.
