The eagerly-anticipated Apple TV refresh will be available for pre-orders next Monday, said Tim Cook during his on-stage appearance at the Wall Street Journal Digital Live conference.

Customers won’t have to hang about, either, as shipments are likely to be sent out by the end of that week.

The availability is no surprise given that Apple had previously claimed the Apple TV would be sent out “sometime in October,” and the month is rapidly coming to a close.

Last week, a few select Apple Authorized Resellers in Europe began taking pre-orders for the fourth-gen set-top box. Advance developer units were sent out one week before this.

The surprisingly-repairable Apple TV update features an advanced touchpad remote control, dedicated App Store, and Siri integration. The 32GB model will set customers back $149, while a 64GB model costs $199.

Personally speaking, this was the most-anticipated piece of hardware coming out of Apple’s last keynote event. I’m going to be snapping up a new Apple TV as soon as I can. How about you? Leave your comments below.

Waiting for Plex to release an app for this, then we’ll see.

    • This is something very interesting that is worth paying your extreme attention ,a very good chance to work for those people who want to use their free time so that they can make some extra money using their computers… I have been working on this for last two and half years and I am earning 60-90 dollar/ hour … In the past week I have earned 13,70 dollars for almost 20 hours sitting ….

Any special qualification, degree or skills is not necessary for this, just keyboard typing and a good working and reliable internet connection ….

Not any Time limitations to start work … You may do this work at any time when you willing to do it ….

Just know how I have been doing this…..….see this (webiste-Iink) on my !profile!` to know how I am working` on this`

I love Plex because it reminds us all that the bar to software design and implementation is very, very low.

the Plex server works fine for me, handles my video and music collection well, from my unraid home server. what do you use?
Client-wise, it’s ok on iOS, passable on PS3, and utter crap on android.

I plan on getting a 64GB version. Hopefully this isn’t as bad as the Watch fiasco

    • Vittorio D'Antuono says:

Fiasco? The Apple Watch was everything but a fiasco.

      • Grits n Gravy says:

Unless you ordered at 12:00:01 and got the least popular band, you were stuck waiting weeks for your watch. No in Apple Store stock until 2 months later, and not available at other major retailers until later than that. How is that not a fiasco?

We’re getting into the holiday season, if this isn’t easily available to Jim Bob walking into the Apple Store or Target, that’s a big problem

      • Vittorio D'Antuono says:

Ooh I thought you said the product itself was a fiasco not its launch. Then yes, it was :)

I really liked what I saw, and I suspect a 4th gen ATV will eventually replace one of our 3rd gens in the main TV room, but I’m not really in a rush. Not all that interested in the gaming options (we have consoles, iOS devices), and our two 3rd gens both work pretty great for iTunes, Netflix, HBO. Funny enough, one my primary drivers behind a purchase is _if_ Amazon devices to build an app, so we have a single unified device for everything (Amazon Prime videos require us to fire up the PS3, and wow, is that thing loud)

Any mention if this has an IR receiver for universal remotes.

The Siri remote is great and all and has volume buttons but don’t think it can do tv, amp and also lights.
